Will Young reveals coronavirus has ‘struck’ him

Will Young appears to have tested positive for coronavirus and says he ‘almost got away with it’.

The Leave Right Now singer shared the news with his Instagram followers on Tuesday night alongside a selfie of himself looking particularly poorly.

In the caption, Will, 41, said: ‘Covid strikes !!! Almost got away with it…’

He offered no other explanation but it comes just days after Will publicly called out Thames Water for reportedly failing to assist his father, who is vulnerable, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘So @thameswater have been so unhelpful and made SO many u turns to my poor dad who is high risk,’ Will told his social media followers.

‘Been going on since May at least and they WONT [sic] take responsibility. Well I’m joining the fight now. So disappointing but bring it on!!’ he added.

Thames Water responded and told Will to contact them privately about the matter.

It’s been a difficult time for the Pop Idol star who attended an inquest into his twin brother’s death last week.

Rupert Young died on August 2 aged 41, following a battle with depression and addiction.

Will attended the inquest on Monday at Poplar Coroners Court along with his mother, where he described himself as Rupert’s carer.

The Evergreen singer told the hearing: ‘I was a carer for him but it became too much. He could not look after himself and I did not believe he could look after his own life.

‘I feel it is difficult for me. I am someone who is pretty in control over my emotional wellbeing. I am a functional adult. I have done a lot of work on myself.’

Will said that his brother had been battling with mental health issues for ‘decades’, saying: ‘Rupert struggled with depression and anxiety, I would say for 20 years.’

Rupert had lived with Will on and off for three years and had no other support system or friends, it was said.
