The Larkins 'to be axed amid low ratings and cast disagreements'

‘The writing is on the wall’: ITV’s The Larkins ‘set to be axed after losing TWO million viewers and cast disagreements on set’

ITV’s The Larkins is reportedly set to be axed following disappointing ratings and ‘cast disagreements’ following lead actress Sabrina Bartlett’s departure.

Having returned to the small screen between October and November for series two, The The Darling Buds Of May reboot lost two million viewers this time around.

Despite a star-studded cast including Bradley Walsh and Joanna Scanlan, this year’s opener was watched by 2.9 million people, compared to 4.8 million last year.

The actor who plays Cedric ‘Charley’ Charlton did appear in the second series despite on-set tensions that led to his co-star Sabrina quitting the show.

A source told The Sun: ‘The Larkins is going to be dropped in the new year — the writing is on the wall.

‘The ratings for series two were disappointingly low and cast disagreements on set have been an ongoing problem for the production team.

‘Sabrina’s issue with Tok and her decision to leave, was a massive problem for the bosses. But there have also been other disagreements.’

MailOnline has contacted ITV for comment.

Sabrina decided not to return to The Larkins is because she made a complaint about Tok’s behaviour to ITV bosses.

The Mail on Sunday recently revealed that the broadcaster launched an investigation into the allegation – with ITV refusing to confirm or deny that one took place.

One member of The Larkins team said: ‘Tok is back but we are sad and surprised that Sabrina is not.

‘We all assumed Tok wouldn’t be back when Sabrina quit. The last we heard was that there would be a new duo playing Mariette and Charley.

‘Sabrina loved the show. It is a great shame she has decided to leave.’

It was later claimed by The Sun that she complained about Tok using a snap of her as his WhatsApp profile picture.

The Sun claims that Tok used the image after Sabrina – now replaced by with Joelle Ray – took a selfie on his phone, with the Mariette actress said to have complained to show bosses, saying it made her ‘uncomfortable.’

A show insider told the publication: ‘He insisted he had only done it as a joke, but she made a complaint about his behaviour.

‘From that point on, there was a real tension between the two of them.’

A representative for ITV declined to comment at the time.
