Sylvester Stallone missed out on a background role in The Godfather

Sylvester Stallone missed out on background role in The Godfather because the studio wasn’t sure he was the right ‘type of guy’

Sylvester Stallone made the studio an offer, and they refused.

The 76-year-old actor opened up in an interview with Empire about how he asked Paramount if he could be in the background of the iconic wedding scene from The Godfather.

In the scene, Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) puts on a huge wedding for his daughter Connie (Talia Shire) at the family’s lavish estate.

‘I went to Paramount, and said, “Can I be an extra in the wedding scene?”‘ the Rocky star revealed. ‘They said, “Yeah, we don’t know if you’re the type of guy.” I go, “I’m not the type? To play in the background, hiding behind a f**king wedding cake?”‘

The Godfather is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and starred Brando, Shire, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall and James Caan, who passed away earlier this year.

Stallone eventually worked with Shire in his incredibly successful Rocky movies. She played his character’s love interest in the movies.

Stallone went on to talk about his upcoming gangster project Tulsa King, in which he plays a mob capo.

‘Everything comes to those who wait,’ Stallone said. ‘He’s very hung up on the Western, but how does it manifest itself across the country? OK, take a gangster and put them right next to a cactus, and let the fun begin.’

On top of Tulsa King, Stallone will soon reprise his role of Barney Ross from the first three Expendables movies for the series’ fourth film.

More on the way: Stallone (pictured 2019) has several films on the way including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Little America among others

He will also reprise his role of Stakar Ogord in the upcoming movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

He will soon start work on the movie Little America written and directed by Rowan Athale.

The film, according to IMDb, the movie takes place ‘in a dystopian future where China owns America’ and will follow ‘a former American Force Recon member is hired by a Chinese billionaire to go to an American ghetto and find his daughter.’

While his professional career is going well, Stallone is dealing with a very difficult divorce.

Jennifer Flavin, 54, filed for divorce from Stallone after 25 years of marriage just days before DailyMail.com revealed that the actor had a giant tattoo of Flavin on his right bicep covered up with a picture of Butkus, Rocky’s bull mastiff from the hit movies.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Stallone, 76, has now denied Flavin’s allegations that he ‘engaged in the intentional dissipation, depletion and/or waste of marital assets which has had an adverse economic impact on the marital estate,’ PEOPLE reports.

In court documents filed in Palm Beach County, Florida, Stallone’s legal reps said the actor had ‘not engaged’ in that sort of conduct.

Additionally, Stallone opposed his estranged wife’s request to have ‘exclusive use’ of their home in Palm Beach.

Flavin had earlier asked for sole use of the palatial property as the divorce played out.

In regards to legal costs and lawyers’ fees, Flavin requested that the court be mindful of the ‘conduct of each party’ that could possibly draw out the process. She asked the court to encourage ‘mutual cooperation’ in order to ‘reduce the cost’ of legal matters.

Stallone said in his response that Flavin had ‘hired counsel to represent her and agreed to pay them their legal fees.’

The Rambo star did not oppose her petition to ‘restore’ her maiden name, and he also agreed that their marriage was ‘irretrievably broken.’
