Sharon Stone reveals 'XXX director's cut' rerelease of Basic Instinct

Sharon Stone, 63, admits she’s powerless to stop the ‘director’s XXX cut’ of Basic Instinct for the movie’s 30th anniversary

She’s long maintained that she was exploited during the making of her breakout film, Basic Instinct.

And Sharon Stone has spoken about her ongoing battle with filmmakers over the now infamous scene in which her character, successful crime novelist Catherine Tramell, uncrosses her legs and exposes herself.

‘They’ve decided to release the director’s XXX cut for the 30th anniversary,’ the clearly unimpressed 63-year-old told A Current Affair on Monday.

Fight on: Sharon Stone has revealed there’s ‘more to come’ in her battle with the film studio over the now infamous Basic Instinct scene

When asked if she had the power to stop such a release given her objections to it, Stone told host Tracy Grimshaw that she did not.

‘There are new [Screen Actors Guild] rules about that that have been made and created but they were made after I, as a young lady, made this film, and so they don’t apply to me,’ Sharon explained.

Basic Instinct was released in 1992, when Sharon, who starred in the thriller opposite Michael Douglas, had just turned 24 years old.

Iconic: The scene in question depicts Sharon’s minidress clad character uncrossing her legs – without underwear

But the Hollywood veteran was adamant she didn’t have any regrets about making the film.

‘Regrets are like farts, you can’t get them back. Once they’re out, there’s stinky and gone,’ she quipped.

The controversial scene in question showed Stone -naked beneath her dress- uncrossing and crossing her legs in an apparent ploy to unsettle police officers questioning her role in a brutal murder.

Rage: In her new memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, Sharon described how she slapped her director Paul Verhoeven in fury and walked out of a preview of the erotic thriller

In the past, the Academy Award nominated actress has maintained she was ‘tricked’ into exposing herself for the cameras.

In her new memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, Sharon described how she slapped her director Paul Verhoeven in fury and walked out of a preview of the erotic thriller after discovering his assurances that it wouldn’t show up on screen had been a lie and that the audience could — as she put it — ‘see all the way to Nebraska’.

For his part, Verhoeven has vehemently dismissed her claims that she was taken by surprise in the leg-crossing scene, saying: ‘Any actress knows what she’s going to see if you ask her to take off her underwear and point there with the camera.’

Studiocanal UK recently dropped a new trailer for the ‘4K restoration’ of the 90s classic thriller, set for release June 14.
