He told the publication: ‘I would like just to have my couple of bits to see me through the year all spaced out and that’s that, but in the last two years the jobs I’ve done have all been announced around the same time.

‘I don’t want to be like chlamydia. I don’t want to be all over the f*****g shop and everywhere, that’s definitely not what I want.

‘In my nice little world I could have Supermarket Sweep and Ready Steady Cook. They’re at different times of the year.’

Despite wanting to slow down his TV schedule, Rylan, who has made a lucrative career since starring as a novelty act on The X Factor, admitted he hopes Big Brother will make a return.

The former Bit On The Side host said he was taken aback by the overwhelming response the Best Shows Ever received during lockdown and wants the renewed interest to prompt bosses to reprise the show.

It comes after Rylan revealed despite he may not appear on the next series of Celebrity Gogglebox due to his mother’s ill health.

The TV presenter admitted that there is currently a question mark over whether he will appear alongside his mother Linda on the much-loved Channel 4 show.

He explained that due to Linda’s Crohn’s diagnosis there is no guarantee that she will be well enough to take part in the programme, which reviews the week’s television.

Linda, 68, has battled with Crohn’s since her 30s, a condition that causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive system.

Rylan’s mum also contracted sepsis in 2018, which almost killed her.

Discussing his return to the show with the Mirror, Rylan said: ‘It’ll be a year away now, we were really lucky to be part of the first one and the second one. It’ll all just depend on what we’re doing and if my mum’s well enough.

‘We’re never gonna say never we don’t know what position we’re going to be in eventually.’
