Rosanne Cash Teams With Keb’ Mo On ‘Put A Woman In Charge’

Rosanne Cash has teamed up with Keb’ Mo’ to release a new single “Put A Woman In Charge,” an upbeat anthem with a message about female empowerment and accepting women in leadership roles.

The track was written by Keb’ Mo’, John Lewis Parker, and Beth Nielsen Chapman.

“‘Put A Woman In Charge’ is about trying something else. There have been a lot of great achievements made by men or by the masculine, but maybe, just maybe, we’ve gotten too comfortable with the imbalance of men in power and have fallen short by not listening and embracing what women have to offer when they lead.”

“I think the song should be heard and conversations need to be had. It’s about empowering each and every one of us to contribute, and to be brave to step forward and speak up,” Keb’ Mo’ said in a statement.

The song starts by describing man’s accomplishments in the past including fire, wheel, automobile and then the song warns that man “won’t stop til’ he owns it all” and that mankind is “standing on the brink of disaster.” As an answer to all these problems, the song asks to “put a woman in charge.”

“Way back when. In the beginning of time. Man made the fire, then the wheel. Went from a horse to an automobile. He set the world in line. He took the oceans and the sky. He set the borders. Built the walls. And won’t stop til’ he owns it all. And here we are, standing on the brink of disaster. Enough is enough is enough is enough. I know the answer,” the song begins.
