Rooney Mara ‘pregnant’: Actress, 35, and fiancé Joaquin Phoenix, 45, ‘expecting first child together’

Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are expecting their first child together. 

The actress, 35, is believed to be up to ‘six months along’ with her pregnancy, with Rooney and actor fiancé Joaquin, 45, preparing to welcome their baby later this summer, Page Six reports.

The couple are currently isolating at their home in Los Angeles and are yet to comment on the claims.

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for both Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix for comment. 

Rooney was last pictured stepping out wearing a baggy T-shirt as she celebrated her sister Kate’s very first Mother’s Day last week.

The star arrived at her 37-year-old sibling’s home carrying a lovely bouquet of flowers and a small gift bag.

It was a special day for the family as Kate and husband Jamie Bell welcomed their first child last May. 

Kate announced the arrival of her little girl – whose name has yet to be revealed – with a sweet social media post.  

Rooney and Joaquin are got engaged last July and the news was confirmed at the time by US Weekly.

Mara and Phoenix first worked together in the 2013 film, Her. (pictured), which was directed by Spike Jonze. 

The movie tells the story of a man who falls in love with a computer operating system, voiced by Scarlett Johansson. Rooney plays Joaquin’s ex-wife. 

The couple started dating three years later after working together on Mary Magdalene but remained friends until filming wrapped. 

They made their red carpet debut in 2017 at the Cannes Film Festival’s closing ceremony.

Joaquin later confirmed that the couple were sharing a private life together in the Hollywood Hills.

‘They don’t really like to go out,’ an insider said at the time. ‘They mainly just like to be with each other as the two of them. They’re in their own bubble.’   

Phoenix told Vanity Fair in October that he was at first convinced that Mara ‘despised’ him but later learned she was just shy.

Joaquin said: ‘She’s the only girl I ever looked up on the internet. We were just friends, email friends. I’d never done that. Never looked up a girl online.’

The star has previously dated Anna Paquin in 2001 and Liv Tyler from 1995 to 1998. He’s also been linked to Lindsay Lohan and Anna Friel.

Rooney dated Charlie McDowell – son of Malcolm McDowell, for six years, until 2016. 

Her latest movie, Disney’s Nightmare Alley recently halted filming due to coronavirus. 

The film is a remake of the 1947 version and is directed by Guillermo del Toro.

It’s an American psychological thriller film about a corrupt con-man who teams up with a female psychiatrist to trick people into giving them money.
