Pete Davidson hailed with boos and jeers at Syracuse Orange basketball game after he called the city ‘trash’ in 2018 interview

Pete Davidson on Saturday was the target of boos from fans in Syracuse, New York, where he attended an NCAA basketball game, after making inflammatory remarks about the city on multiple occasions.

The 28-year-old comic/actor was jeered as he was in attendance at the game at the Carrier Dome, where the hometown Orange prevailed 92-69 over the Louisville Cardinals.

The Saturday Night Live staple ‘seemed to be prepared for what was coming to him’ and ‘brushed it off and had a laugh, as did the locals,’ an attendee told Page Six. ‘Pete remained bundled throughout the game. Maybe because of the single digit temps, or perhaps because of the cold welcome from natives.’

Sources told the outlet that campus police accompanied Davidson and Weitsman into Weitsman’s luxury suite at the venue, and that they departed after halftime and went for dinner.

Davidson told Howard Stern in September of 2018 that he was not a fan of the city, where he shot the 2019 film Big Time Adolescence.

‘Dude, I was shooting this movie out in Syracuse,’ he told Stern. ‘Syracuse, you know, it’s trash. Worse than Staten Island. The nicest hotel in Syracuse is, like, a f***ing Ramada.’

Davidson doubled down on his stance in a 2019 chat with Variety, saying his time there ‘sucked’ as he was targeted by local law enforcement over his penchant for marijuana.

He said of an incident in which a passenger in his car was charged with marijuana possession: ‘The cops, because there’s nothing going on there, they were hunting me down the whole time. They tried to arrest me for bringing business to your town. Never again, Syracuse.’
