Love Island's Ollie QUITS the show after just three days

Love Island’s Ollie QUITS the show after just three days and claims he’s still ‘in love with his ex’… as it emerges he was on track to become the most complained about contestant ever

  • The Cornish land owner had received a slew of hate after photographs were unearthed of him seemingly on safari, hunting big game
  • Love Island producers maintained they had no intention of axing him from the show, which began on ITV2 on January 12
  • This has led to nearly 500 complaints over the course of the one and a half days since the premiere episode aired on January 12
  • Ollie split from his girlfriend of 18 months, Laura Nofer, 23, last year and claims he left the show because he isn’t ready to love again
  • He admitted to cheating on an ex NINE times but it isn’t clear if this Laura
  • He has already left the South African villa

Love Island’s Ollie Williams has sensationally QUIT the show after just THREE DAYS.

The controversial Lord-to-be, 23, claims he realised he was still in love with his ex-girlfriend of 18 months, Laura Nofer, also 23.

The couple split last year, and Ollie, who was coupled up with fellow Islander Paige Turley, 22, said in a statement that he simply isn’t ready for another relationship.

A Love Island Spokesperson told MailOnline: Ollie has made the decision to leave the Love Island villa.

He’s GONE! Controversial Love Island contestant Ollie Williams has sensationally QUIT the show after just three days after realising he is ‘still in love with his ex’ Laura Nofer, 23

Explaining his reasons for leaving, Ollie said in the Beach Hut, in upcoming scenes, he said: ‘I have to be honest with myself, and everyone, that I do still love someone else…

‘I have to follow my heart in this scenario and it would be wrong for me to ignore these feelings.

‘At the end of the day, this is Love Island and it’s about finding love. If I carried on anything with Paige [Turley] , or any other girl that might come into the villa, it wouldn’t be fair on them.’

He’s off! Ollie realised he was still in love with Laura Nofer, who he split from last year (pictured together at Royal Ascot in June 2018)

Ollie has already left the South African villa after telling his fellow Islanders he cheated on an ex nine times – although he did not say if this was Laura.

Her Instagram account handle is @lauranofer but this has been set to private.

A source told The Sun: ‘The show made Ollie realise he wasn’t ready to be in another serious relationship and he still has really strong feelings for Laura.

‘Meeting girls who were so different to him and his background only clarified how he felt about his ex and he felt it was only fair to leave the competition and sort his head out.

‘He told producers and acted on his feelings as soon as he made up his mind.’

Defiant: Producers of the ITV2 series had refused to ‘bow down to the public on a moral issue’ after he was exposed as a ‘big game hunter who posed with an array of dead animals he killed’

Denial: Sources close to the contestant previously denied any suggestion that he has hunted for sport after pictures emerged of Ollie posing alongside a variety of dead animals

Controversy: Love Island viewers have been in uproar after photos of the heir to the 2,000-acre Lanhydrock estate in Cornwall emerged of him proudly posing beside a warthog, water buffalo and giant eland to promote his hunting business

Having only returned to screens on Sunday night, the heir to the Lanhydrock Estate in Cornwall had received a slew of hate after photographs were unearthed of him seemingly on safari, hunting big game.

This has led to nearly 500 complaints over the course of the one and a half days since the premiere episode aired on January 12.

At the time of writing, Ofcom has tallied 467 complaints from disgruntled viewers of the show, calling for Ollie to be removed due to his alleged blood-sport hobby.

Ofcom had said: ‘We will assess these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.’

Cutting his losses: Ollie had been coupled up with Paige Turley and didn’t think it was fair to continue on the journey with her when he was in love with someone else

It’s believed the most-complained about Islander in the show’s history to date is Maura Higgins, who received 709 complaints to the broadcasting regulator last year due to her behaviour towards co-star Tommy Fury.

Fans of the show were left uncomfortable when newcomer Maura repeatedly attempted to kiss Tommy during the broadcast on June 14 2019, despite the hunk repeatedly trying to avoid her advances.

But Ollie was gaining on Maura’s record, after photos surfaced over the weekend of him posing with various dead carcasses.

Awkward: Ollie’s Twitter account – run currently by his friends – re-tweeted a meme of him leaning against the villa breakfast bar in swim-shorts, with the caption ‘Alexa, play Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira’, as Ollie swung back and forth. Ollie’s Twitter then captioned the re-tweet ‘Better legs than a gazelle’

He was seen with a dead warthog, a water buffalo, a giant eland and a sable antelope, guns rested against the corpses, supposedly to promote his hunting business.

Following the publication of these pictures, Ollie’s Twitter account appeared to rub salt into the wound by re-tweeting a meme of Ollie from Monday night’s show.

The tweet saw him leaning against the villa breakfast bar in swim-shorts, with the caption ‘Alexa, play Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira’, as Ollie swung back and forth.

Something to say: People had already started taking to Twitter to criticise Ollie’s involvement in the show given his alleged blood-sport hobby

Ollie’s Twitter account – run currently by his friends – captioned the re-tweet ‘Better legs than a gazelle’.

Many saw this as disrespectful, given the revelations that Ollie hunts big game.

MailOnline has approached Love Island reps for comment on this.

Reactions to this tweet began appearing. One person tweeted: ‘How would the gazelle feel if she was hunted?’

Another, referring to Ollie being filmed from afar, posted: ‘The view through the gazelle’s rifle scope…’

Someone else posted: ‘Killed a few of them have you, murderer.’

Troubled times: Ollie’s decision to leave comes after nearly 500 viewers complained to Ofcom about Ollie’s participation in the show

A fourth posted, ‘Revolting. The animals are worth more than him,’ as a fifth added: ‘Murdered any animals recently?’

In regards to Ollie’s inclusion on the show, Love Island bosses had previously told MailOnline that they have ‘no intention’ of axing the land owner after he was exposed as a ‘big game hunter who posed with an array of dead animals he killed in Africa.’

Producers of the ITV2 series refuse to ‘bow down to the public on a moral issue’ as they don’t believe keeping Ollie on the show will affect viewing figures.

An insider had told MailOnline: ‘It is highly unlikely Ollie will be booted off the series. He’s part of the lineup and already filmed the first episode – bosses see no reason to kick him off.’

A source continued: ‘Love Island cast Ollie out of thousands of applicants and are sticking to their decision.

‘They’re hoping this will all blow over once the audience gets to know Ollie after seeing him on screen.’

Oh dear: It’s believed the most-complained about Islander in the show’s history to date is Maura Higgins, who received 709 complaints to the broadcasting regulator last year due to her behaviour towards co-star Tommy Fury
