Jess and Eve Gale have revealed Love Island producers banned them from wearing bikinis they considered too racy on the show.

The identical twins, 23, took part in the 2020 winter series and said bosses told them some of their outfits were too ‘inappropriate’ to be shown on camera.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Eve said: ‘I had that thong bikini that I wasn’t allowed to wear and you weren’t allowed to wear that Ann Summers one.

‘I had a bikini and it was the real thong one like the Oh Polly ones, it wasn’t nude, but it was thong.’

Jess added: ‘I was wearing an Ann Summers one and because it’s a family TV show they were like, “this is inappropriate.”‘

Eve then added that she had to change into one that covered more skin, saying: ‘Yeah, I had to change it to a tiny bit thicker.’

The twins also discussed what happens to contestants after they are dumped from the villa.

The pair had quite different experiences, with Eve going home early in the series while Jess made it to the final.

Eve said she left the villa and was then taken to a room with producers who ‘debriefed’ her and also let her sneak back in to see Jess one last time.

The beauty then had to quarantine in South Africa without her phone and was given her ‘own villa’ to stay in.

Eve said she then had to fly back from South Africa without her phone and was only given it when she landed in the UK.

It comes after Shaughna Phillips, who was also on the 2020 series, revealed that Love Island contestants practice their recoupling speeches with producers before filming.

The 26-year-old told how the dramatic recouplings around the firepit take ‘hours’ to film and islanders have to say their speeches in three parts for the cameras.

Speaking on the Should I Delete That podcast, Shaughna explained: ‘Hours. Hours. You don’t normally have to re-do… if it’s something very dramatic, then obviously they can’t really redo that.

‘But when you’re doing, like, the “I would like to couple up with this person because…” you do that in three sections. So you say that, and then you have a big pause, then you say the next bit, pause.’

Detailing the rehearsed nature of the segment, Shaughna added: ‘You kind of go over it with a producer before, that night.

‘So like during dinner time you kind of talk through it. It’s really produced. They kind of ask you to go for chats and certain things. It’s a TV show, so I get it.’
