Love Island fans were left in shock at a last-minute twist which saw 2018 show alum Adam Collard enter this year’s villa as a bombshell in a teaser on Sunday night.
But it would seem viewers weren’t the only ones left with their jaws on the floor as Adam’s ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott and her boyfriend Sam Thompson shared live reactions of them screaming at the TV on social media.
Sam, 29, has been posting his commentary on episodes all season of Love Island, and joked ‘I’ve never seen her face light up like that for me’ as Zara – who found love with hunky Adam, 26, in 2018 – grinned open-mouthed at the TV.

Sam took to his Stories to offer live thoughts on Sunday night’s viewing with 1.5 million followers.
When the teaser clip unveiling the personal trainer’s show return came on, an excited Sam was thrilled for a villa newcomer before his face was even revealed.
As the camera panned up his muscular physique, Sam shouted: ‘Abs and pecs, abs and pecs…Wow he’s jacked! Who’s this guy…who’s this absolute animal…It’s your ex-boyfriend! No way!’
Sam then panned the camera over to a comically shocked Zara who screamed as she got up from the sofa.

Zara and Adam met on Love Island in the summer of 2018 and moved in together in Essex soon after they were eliminated from the ITV2 show.
But the relationship wasn’t to last, with former government advisor Zara confirming their split after eight months together.
A giddy Sam continued to share his thoughts, sating ‘this is the best series ever,’ as Zara added: ‘I think I’m gonna have to retire from this commentary now.’

Her boyfriend then continued his analysis as he pondered what Adam’s ‘play’ will be.
‘I’m so intrigued about what’s about to happen,’ he said.
Sam went on: ‘The question is right…He’s like an alumni…the Lucas of this world…they’re gonna suck up…is that gonna happen?’
He questioned: ‘How’s he gonna play it? He’s done it before…brilliant from the producers.’

‘Brilliant!’ Zara echoed in the background, voicing her approval at the dramatic decision.
Sam then joked: ‘We’re gonna watch your ex boyfriend every night…watch his abs greasy and pectorals…’
He then appeared to suggest being in touch with Love Island’s production team, adding: ‘I genuinely think the producers have listened to my voice note that I sent and they’ve been like…let’s do it…lets fly in Adam Collard.’
Sam finished his Story with: ‘I can’t wait…They need to do this every season.’

Adam during his last time on the show infamously caused havoc in the villa where he was labelled by some as a ‘gaslighter’.
His return marks the first time in Love Island history that a contestant from a past series has been brought back for another.
Adam said of his comeback: ‘I’m going to ruffle a few feathers when I go in.’
The personal trainer wasn’t only willing to create drama on the reality show.
In 2020 he threw shade at Zara after she admitted that she cheated on Sam.
The reality star weighed in on the drama by commenting on a news article.
The headline of the post read: ‘Zara Thompson begs for Sam Thompson’s forgiveness in an open letter, after she cheated on him’, to which he commented ‘Cute’ underneath.
His fellow Love Island pal Jack Fowler, 24, replied to the cheeky comment saying: ‘@adamcollard you a bad bad bad man,’ along with a laughing emoji.
Earlier that year, Zara claimed her ‘toxic’ romance with Adam stripped her of all confidence in an emotional Instagram post.
