‘I have been so overwhelmed with sadness’: A Place In The Sun host Laura Hamilton breaks silence on shock split from husband Alex Goward

Laura Hamilton has broken her silence on her shock split from her husband Alex Goward.
The A Place in the Sun presenter, 39, talked about moving home and saying goodbye to her marriage in an interview with Hello! magazine.
She said: ‘It was a chapter of my life that I am now closing, and I have so many happy memories. I am very much someone who believes in focusing on the future, not having regrets, and I want to be positive for my children.’

Explaining the reasoning for the breakup, she explained that it had been a mutual decision and that they were on ‘different paths’.
She said: ‘It was a decision we both came to. We have an enormous amount of respect for each other, but we are now on different paths. At the point it was announced, we’d already overcome a lot of difficult times. But I am lucky that we have the relationship and respect for each other that we have, and our children’s happiness will always be our priority.’
However, Laura admitted: ‘There have been times I have been so overwhelmed with sadness.’
She added that she hadn’t been put off finding love again, but that her focus was her children and she was ‘not interested in that right now’.
The couple shares two children, son Rocco, eight, and daughter Tahlia, six.
It comes as Laura returned to work on A Place In The Sun, announcing the start of the new series with an Instagram photo.
The snap showed the presenter looking stunning in a green dress as she stood on a idyllic beach, smiling widely.

Captioning the shot, she wrote: ‘The Beach Benalmadena. The Sun is shining and the property search begins…’
Earlier this month, Laura revealed her nine-year marriage was over, taking to Instagram to post a picture of a framed message which read: ‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.’
Alongside it, she wrote: ‘This isn’t something I ever thought I’d be saying but, after 13 years of being together Alex and I have separated.
‘Our children are and always will be our number one priority and we would respect privacy for our family at this time.’

And the day after the split was confirmed, Laura revealed she was leaving their family home which the pair had shared for nine years.
Sharing pictures of how she had transformed the property with Alex, she said: ‘Today we close the door and say goodbye to a home that we have loved and enjoyed for the last 9 years – the longest I have lived anywhere in my entire adult life!
‘It was a home that we transformed (as you can see in the photos), but MORE importantly it was a home where we created some incredible memories that we will cherish forever…

‘Change can be scary but you know what is scarier? Allowing fear to stop you from growing, evolving and progressing.
‘When it feels scary to jump that’s exactly when you jump, otherwise you just end up staying in the same place your whole life, and that I can’t do.’
Laura and Alex, who wed in a romantic Surrey setting, are also business partners, owning the Lord Roberts on The Green café in Purley, Surrey, together.
