Kim Kardashian reaches 160M Instagram followers, behind Kylie Jenner

Kim Kardashian reaches a milestone with 160 MILLION Instagram followers… though she’s still in second place behind her sister Kylie Jenner

She’s been engaged in a (friendly) public battle over stratospheric follower counts with her youngest sister Kylie Jenner.

Kim Kardashian scored another victory in the war when she reached a stunning 160 million followers on Instagram.

The 39-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star shared some pictures from a recent photoset to mark the occasion, even though she was still millions of followers behind Kylie.

Milestone figure: Kim Kardashian, 39, scored another victory in her (friendly) battle with her sister Kylie Jenner, 22, when she reached 160 million Instagram followers on Wednesday

Kim showed off an unusually playful pout in photos with her sister Khloé Kardashian, 35.

She looked sleek in a matte black mock turtleneck top, while Khloé rocked a black pinstripe suit and a low-cut black top.

‘160 million!!! I love you guys!!!’ she gushed in the caption.

Higher and higher: Kim has already had an astounding increase in followers from October 2019, when she celebrated passing the 150 million mark

Kim has already had an astounding increase in followers from October 2019, when she celebrated passing the 150 million mark.

At the time, Kylie was two million followers shy of her elder sister, but that all changed in early January when she reached 156M followers, ahead of Kim’s still impressive 155M.

The Kardashian podcast Say Bible noted the upset at the time with a post captioned, ‘The new supreme has risen!’

Nori’s Black Book, a parody account that pretends to be in the voice of Kim’s daughter North West, six, joked about the extreme measures Kim would be taking.

‘Time to fire the social media team. I hope Larsa kept her resume updated. Also, new rule: To get into Sunday Service you and 10 of your friends must be following mommy. No exceptions!’

Though Kim is making strides, Kylie is still in the lead with an impressive 162 million followers.

In January, the cosmetics entrepreneurs starred together in a makeup tutorial posted to Kylie’s YouTube channel.

While applying her own products to her big sister’s face, Kylie accidentally pulled out one of Kim’s eyelashes.

After playfully saying she’d keep it as a souvenir (and jokingly having her assistant take it away), the billionaire businesswoman suggested they blow on it and make a wish.

But once the wife of Kanye West said they should keep wishes to themselves, Kylie pulled it away just as she was puckered up to blow.

‘I just wished I would beat you in Instagram again,’ said a dazed Kim. ‘Now my wish won’t come true.’

Though Kylie is the reigning followers champ, at least for now, a large portion of her and Kim’s followers are almost certainly fake or bought.

An analysis by the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) suggested that 44 percent of Kim’s followers (then only 143.6 million) are bots.

An estimated 31 percent of Kylie’s followers were believed to be fake at the time.

The issue plagues most of the Kardashian–Jenner clan, and Khloé Kardashian had the highest percentage of fake followers at a whopping 49 percent, placing her third on the list of celebrities behind Ellen Degeneres and the K-pop group BTS.

Kim and Kylie are currently at the top of the pack, but their entire family boast impressive follower counts, with Khloé at 104M, Kourtney at 86.9M, Kendall Jenner at 122M, and their mother Kris Jenner at a modest 32M.
