Katherine Ryan slams theme park after son Fred is not allowed on ride

‘Big mistake, huge’: Katherine Ryan slams theme park for treatment of son Fred, two, after he wasn’t allowed on a ride despite queueing for 25 minutes

Katherine Ryan has slammed a theme park for not allowing her son on a ride, despite them queueing for 25 minutes.

Taking to Instagram, the comedian, 39, vented her frustrations after revealing Fred, two, got to the front before he was told he could not go on the ride because he was too short.

The mother-of-three claimed her digger-loving toddler was actually tall enough for the ride and showed him standing next to the 90cm height limit board.

Katherine wrote on the image: ‘Fred wasn’t allowed on this ride after queuing ages lol ok’ and revealed that although she asked again, he still wasn’t allowed to ride.’

The TV personality, 39, her partner Bobby Koostra, Fred and her daughter Violet, 13, were at Diggerland enjoying quality family time on Monday when the incident occurred.

The comedian, who also has baby Fenna Grace, four months, went on to reference Julia Roberts’ iconic movie Pretty Woman in another video.

She was referring to a scene where the sex worker is barred from shopping on Rodeo Drive.

Katherine said: ‘I don’t want to “big mistake, huge” that girl too much because she was just doing her job and there was health and safety.

‘But, big mistake, huge. He was tall enough. It takes a unique skill-set that I admire to do a job like that.

‘To be able to look at a two year old who has just queued for 25 minutes and be like “no”. Even when I said “Look, he’s like definitely tall enough” but she’s like “no”.

‘Diggers are the thing he cares about most in the world and he was queuing up because he wanted to go on a ride and drive one, and she just said no.’

A spokesperson for Diggerland said: ‘Customer safety is of the highest priority at Diggerland. As such, all guests are measured for each ride prior to being allowed on, including children.

‘Our Park Marshal was quite rightly trying to measure the child using the measuring pole. When children are on the borderline, as was the case in this instance, the measuring pole must be used as a more accurate measuring tool.

‘Had Katherine Ryan and her family spoken with a manager on the day of their visit, this incident would have been rectified as best as possible, in a very prompt manner. We are very sad to have learnt the news of Katherine’s disappointment via social media instead.

‘We have reached out to Katherine Ryan, messaging her personally via her Instagram channel in response to her visit. We have also offered Katherine a complimentary return visit, so that her family can enjoy a day at Diggerland to its fullest. Katherine thanked us for reaching out and stated, “We had a great time otherwise thanks”.

Mum life: It comes after Katherine hit back at a mum-shamer who posted a critical comment on a snap of the comedian with her newborn daughter, Fenna Grace

It comes after Katherine hit back at a mum-shamer in February who posted a critical comment on a snap of the comedian with her baby daughter, Fenna Grace.

The TV star uploaded a series of photos documenting her week with her children.

One shot showed the star cuddling her baby daughter as she enjoyed brunch at plush London hotel Claridge’s, with a glass of wine on the table in front of her.

Commenting underneath the carousel of photos, one follower wrote: ‘Enough with the wine drinking whilst still breastfeeding. I couldn’t care less about statistics about percentages. Alcohol isn’t healthy for adults… nevermind babies.’

Katherine was quick to defend herself though, replying: ‘Kera my small children are smart enough to slowly explain to you why it’s fine.’

Previously, Katherine posted a photo of herself breastfeeding Fenna Grace while toasting the camera with a glass of white wine, which again led to critical comments.

One follower wrote: With all due respect drinking & breastfeeding is the same as drinking while pregnant!’

To which the comedian replied: ‘With all due respect you’re speaking out of your a**.’
