British actor Jonah Hauer-King has reportedly been chosen to play the role of Prince Eric in the upcoming live-action remake of the Disney classic “The Little Mermaid.”
Hauer-King joins Halle Bailey, who will play mermaid princess Ariel, and Melissa McCarthy, who will portray Ariel’s evil aunt, Ursula, in the remake, according to Variety.com.
The movie will be written by David Magee and directed by Rob Marshall, the report said.
The soundtrack will include a combination of songs from the original 1989 flick and news ones from original composer Alan Menken.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of “Hamilton,” will write the lyrics and help produce the film, the report said.
A release date for the movie hasn’t been set.
