Jesy Nelson addresses album concerns as she shares Instagram message

‘I promise you, there is absolutely nothing to worry about’: Jesy Nelson takes to social media to addresses fans’ concerns over her album delay

Jesy Nelson addressed concerns of her solo album being delayed following reports of her record executives being ‘unimpressed’ with early versions of her songs.

The singer, 30, departed Little Mix in 2020 and released her debut solo single Boyz with Nicki Minaj in October last year, but has not produced another song since.

The star took to her Instagram Story on Monday to tell her 8.8million fans that there is ‘absolutely nothing to worry about’.

She wrote: ‘Don’t usually comment on stuff like this because I can’t be bothered to waste my energy on total and utter nonsense so I’m going to address this once and once only.’

The singer has been working on her new music in Los Angeles over the past few months and told fans to ‘stay tuned’ ahead of the release as it’s ‘almost finished’.

She continued: ‘As I know you guys are freaking out. I promise you there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

‘I’ve had an amazing time in the studio in LA working on my album which is almost finished.

‘I’m so excited for you all to hear the next single which is coming soon. So, stay tuned.’

She concluded the message: ‘I love you all and thank you for being so patient x.’

Prior to her statement a spokesperson refuted any suggestion of difficulties with her record label after recording a handful of demos in LA.

A spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘In recent months, Jesy has been in the studio recording in Los Angeles developing her body of work with a whole series of tracks, and fans can rest assured they can expect to hear new music from Jesy very soon.’

According to The Sun, Jesy was told by record label bosses to ‘go back to the drawing board’ when they heard some of the music she has been working on.

A separate source claimed: ‘Jesy has worked incredibly hard on her solo music. After releasing Boyz last year, she let the label hear early versions of the songs she had come up with.

‘The bosses felt sure there was potential there but they wanted her to go back to the drawing board. They felt the tracks would benefit from it — so that is what she has done.

‘She is determined to only play them the new music when it’s perfect, so they haven’t heard any more since then.’

The insider added that there are ‘high hopes’ for Jesy’s album when it’s completed.

However, a source told MailOnline that Jesy has only played demos to her record label and has yet to send them her full album, which isn’t finished yet.

They said: ‘Jesy has never sent the label early versions of the album, she had a bunch of demos which she played record labels last year before she signed, and she recently came back from LA with new songs – that the label is yet to hear.

‘No one knows which songs will make the final cut, Jesy is still working on the music, so it doesn’t make sense for label bosses to pencil a release date until she’s finished.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Jesy Nelson for comment.

Tears before bed:  Jesy was recently overcome with emotion as she listened back to a track telling her Instagram followers it ‘got me in the feels’

It comes after Jesy returned to the UK after working on her debut solo album in Los Angeles, breaking down during a late night recording session.

The singer was overcome with emotion as she listened back to a track, telling her Instagram followers it ‘got me in the feels’.

And Jesy flew back to London on the same day her former band Little Mix wrapped up their last tour together.

At their farewell concert, Jesy’s ex bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall all broke down in tears as they reflected on their decade together.

But Jesy but was noticeably absent from the emotional montages and speeches – following her December 2020 exit from the group.

Jesy announced that she was leaving the band when she shared a lengthy statement on Instagram stating she was stepping back to protect her mental health.

The singer has since been accused of causing a rift with her Little Mix bandmates after quitting the group without speaking to them directly first.

A source revealed that the move came as a complete shock to her bandmates who heard about the decision through lawyers.
