They met as mature students studying at Cambridge.
And James Cracknell, 47, took his relationship with American financier Jordan Connell, 34, to the next level as the pair hit the red carpet for the first time together.
They had been pictured on several occasions together, but took the next step as they attended the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards at The P&J Live in Aberdeen on Sunday.

And the pair looked just as smitten as they took to the red carpet, gazing into one another’s eyes and giggling like two teenagers.
James had reason to be cheerful as his 30-year-old partner stunned in a shimmering sequined gown a la Jessica Rabbit.
He could barely keep his eyes off her as Jordan’s thigh split caused her toned legs to make an appearance.
Her luscious blonde locks bounced freely around her shoulders and she completed her look with a pair of black heels and Kaya Earrings from Leo With Love.

Forever the dapper gent, James looked handsome in a two piece suit completed with a pair of cool boots and a tie that matched his girlfriend’s dress.
He is fresh from a stint on Strictly Come Dancing, where he was the first celeb booted from the show.
Another sports star who took part was paralympic table tennis player Will Bailey, who was also at the BBC awards.

Meanwhile, James began dating New Yorker Jordan a year after splitting from television presenter Beverley Turner, his wife of 17 years.
The former student cheerleader tenderly leant towards father-of-three Cracknell for their embrace during a romantic stroll in the sunshine in London in August, the first time they had been seen together as a couple in public.
The American spent 12 months studying for an MBA at the prestigious university before returning to her native city of New York. She is now understood to split her time between London and the US.
The pair, who were both studying as mature students, were introduced through friends at Cambridge and remained in contact once their degrees had finished.
