Ivy Supersonic continues court battle for her dad’s law firm

Hat designer and painter Ivy Supersonic went to Nassau County Supreme Court in Mineola on Thursday in a T-shirt emblazoned “Pay Jerry’s Daughter!”

The daughter of lawyer Jerry Silberstein is suing the personal injury firm he founded, Silberstein, Awad & Miklos, claiming she is owed millions of dollars. She was expecting a decision from Judge Bruce Cozzens, but none came.

Silberstein, who had retired, sued his partners in 2004, the year before he died at the age of 80. “They stopped paying him. They never bought him out. So he sued them,” Supersonic told me.

As his only heir and the executor of his estate, Supersonic is now the plaintiff. “He knew how to write a contract,” she said. “He told me many times, ‘I get paid even if I’m dead.’ But they didn’t want to pay him, and they don’t want to pay me.”

Calls to Joseph Awad and Joseph Miklos were not returned.
