I’m A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here! star Babatunde Aleshe has announced the birth of his second child with wife Leonie.
The 37 year old comedian, who appeared in the jungle in 2022, broke the news as he revealed he had been forced to push back dates on his on-going tour, because Leonie was overdue when she newborn finally arrived. Babatunde announced on Instagram that the couple – who already share son Judah, six – had welcomed a new baby girl – although he did not reveal her name.
Writing to his followers on Instagram on Wednesday, 27 September, the comedian said: “'We’re so sorry to move tonight’s show as well as all shows up until 20th October due to the birth of my daughter being born overdue. I have had to make the decision to move these dates so I can be with my family at this time.
“New dates will be released and allocated for everyone that purchased tickets. I look forward to seeing you soon and giving you a fantastic show. Old dates are listed here and new dates will be released with plenty of time to plan.”
Fans were quick to respond to the post to support Babatunde’s decision to push back tour dates. One wrote: “Family first, and over everything. You’ll smash the upcoming shows, and surely additional content from the delivery room! Big love and congratulations to you and the fam for baby girls safe and blessed arrival bro.”
Another added: “Congratulations and good for you putting your family first.”
Babatunde posted a follow-up message in his Instagram stories, saying: “Just want to say a big thank you to everyone for your lovely messages and for understanding my decision to reschedule my tour dates. My newborn daughter is well and my wife is resting #familyfirst.”
The couple have been together since they were teenagers and they tied the knot in 2015. During his time in the jungle, Babatunde told fellow campmates: “We were friends at school and then one day I was like 'Wow, you're pretty' and it went from there.”
Babatunde appeared on I’m A Celebrity alongside former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, 44, and the pair seemed to form an unlikely friendship. Speaking about the relationship on ITV's This Morning, he admitted: “That surprised me.
“The way we bonded was definitely surprising… we bonded over fatherhood and that was the thing we talked about.”
However, earlier this year, Babatunde revealed that Matt was no longer a member of the WhatsApp group chat with his former campmates. Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, the comic said: “I checked today and he’s not in the group anymore. I don’t know if he’s been kicked out or if he left of his own accord.”
The comedian went on to say that while the contestants were all laughing and joking together by the end, the experience of living with the former minister was "tough" in reality.
“I won’t lie, it was tough but I tried to make good out of a bad situation," he explained. “You’re in here, I’ve got to be your teammate and he came in flying, winning trials.
“But at the end of the day, I do believe in second chances and I was just like 'Let me at least try to be the nice person'."
