Holly Willoughby joins Phillip Schofield and Dan Baldwin at Wimbledon

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield disturb the peace at Wimbledon with an uncontrollable fit of the giggles as they sit side-by-side and cosy up for selfies… despite pushing social distancing by keeping 1m apart on This Morning for the past year

While it may not be an official regulation, silence among tennis spectators is an honoured tradition during play.

Yet Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby clearly didn’t get the memo on Monday, as they were seen bursting into hysterical laughter while watching Novak Djokovic’s victory over Cristian Garin on Centre Court.

The couple notably sat side-by-side in the stands – despite keeping 1m apart on This Morning for the last year, following social distancing guidelines amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Not only did they sit close to each other – and a host of other spectators – but they posed for snaps together and cosied up for a selfie in the stands.

Phil, 59, and Holly, 40, caught the attention of Holly’s husband Dan Baldwin, who looked on at amusement while sat with the pair.

Earlier in the day, the trio seemed in great spirits as they headed to Champagne Lanson suite before settling down to watch a match.

Looking effortlessly chic for the outing, Holly, 40, donned a forest green polka dot midi dress that skimmed over her hourglass curves.

Dan, 46, also looked stylish as he paired a blue suit jacket with stone chinos.

The outing to Centre Court came after Wimbledon announced it would welcome capacity crowds on its two biggest courts for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

More than 15,000 spectators packed Centre Court in the first time outdoor stadiums have been at full capacity at a sporting event since the start of the pandemic.

Attendances had been capped at 50 per cent since the start of the British grand slam last Monday although next weekend’s finals are to rise to 100 per cent on the 15,000-capacity Centre Court.

Wimbledon is part of the Government’s Events Research Programme, with spectators not required to wear masks while seated in the stadiums.

A statement from Wimbledon read: ‘Following the successful staging of the first week of The Championships, as agreed with the Government’s Events Research Programme and in consultation with our Local Authority in Merton…

‘The AELTC is pleased to confirm that Centre and No1 Court will feature 100 per cent capacity crowds for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

‘This marks the first full outdoor stadiums at a sporting event in the UK since the pandemic began. Capacity across the rest of the grounds will be reduced according to the number of courts in play.

‘Ticket-holders will continue to be required to show proof of their Covid status on arrival, and are asked to observe the guidance around wearing face coverings on the move and supporting any additional mitigation measures in place.’

Spectators must either be fully vaccinated, have proof of a negative test or natural immunity through a recent infection.’
