Eamonn Holmes rejects wedding vow renewal plan with wife Ruth Langsford

This Morning hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford got married back in 2010. So this year is set to mark their first major milestone in terms of anniversaries. June will see the popular couple’s tenth anniversary.

Don’t expect to hear about the duo having renewed their wedding vows, though. Eamonn seems pretty dead set against doing that. At least not yet, anyway.

“Honestly, I don’t see the need to renew vows,” he told The Express. “We’re not in a situation where we feel like we have to, I’m not saying never but it’s not high up on our to do list.”

More pressing for Eamonn is Ruth’s 60th birthday, which the couple will be celebrating in March.

Discussing plans for her milestone birthday, the Northern Irishman dropped a few rather hefty hints. The father-of-four, who marked his own 60th birthday just last month, has his eye on Singapore for celebrating Ruth’s birthday.

Showing his hand and revealing some of his plans for his wife's birthday shindig, Eamonn said: “Because Ruth’s birthday is on St Patrick’s Day, 17th March, I might do something Irish themed for her. We’ll have to entice people, people will have to know what’s happening. I think the surprise thing has worn out now, but yeah – we will do something.”

“Ruth was born in Singapore and she’s never been back since she was born, so we were thinking about going back to Singapore.”

An Irish-themed birthday party in Singapore? Well, there's a first time for everything, we suppose!

Eamonn doesn't claim that his and Ruth's marriage is always plain sailing, but it sounds pretty functional to us…

“It’s not the worse out there, no marriage is perfect,” Eamonn admitted. “I think the secret for Ruth and I is, we don’t bottle things up and we don’t go around pretending that there’s never anything wrong or we never have a disagreement because we do… We’re just always good at making up!”

The This Morning pair married a decade ago, five years after Eamonn divorced his first wife Gabrielle Holmes.

On Loose Women back in 2018, Ruth talked openly about her 2010 wedding ceremony and any regrets she had about the big day: “If there was one thing I could have changed about our wedding, well, I wouldn’t change anything really. But it was so hot. We had the hottest day of the year and it was a bit too hot.”

Here's hoping Singapore isn't too hot for your 'surprise' 60th birthday party, Ruth. We're certain there'll be plenty of craic whatever the weather.
