Donald Glover claims old record label owes him $700K

Donald Glover says his old record label ripped him off.

The “This is America” rapper, 34, plans to sue Glassnote Entertainment Group because they took too large a chunk of his royalties for his work as Childish Gambino, according to The Blast.

Glover and Glassnote have been battling it out over the matter all summer. The label believes their agreement entitles them to half his Childish Gambino royalties, while he does not.

But according to court docs obtained by the website, Glover intends to “assert counterclaims” that he is owed $700,000 in streaming royalties.

“Glassnote’s multiple breaches under the License Agreement concern, among other things, the taking of excess distribution fees, underreporting of international revenues, deduction of excess producer royalties, underreporting of merchandise sales, and undocumented manufacturing expense charges,” the documents state.

In early July, Glassnote asked a New York court to determine how things should be split.

Glover signed with RCA Records earlier this year. Before that he had been with Glassnote since 2011, releasing three albums, including the Grammy-winning “Awaken, My Love!,” and a number of mixtapes.
