David Beckham jumps fence to avoid fans after proudly watching Romeo’s football in rain

Proud dad David Beckham was spotted jumping over a fence after his son Romeo played his first football match for Brentford B in The London Senior Cup on Tuesday.

Just a few days after Romeo Beckham, 20, signed the contract to join Brentwood FC on loan from Inter Miami, the young footballer was seen playing in his first match wearing the Brentford jersey.

In the crowd was David, 47, who was all smiles as he watched his son play.

David, who recently was slammed by comedian Joe Lycett for starring in adverts for Qatar during the World Cup, protected himself from the pouring rain with a big, black raincoat as he watched the match from the sidelines.

David has all the reasons to be proud of his son as the young player came on as a second-half substitute when his team was trailing 2-1, before a late comeback brought a 3-2 win for Brentford.

During the match, Romeo showed on multiple occasions that he too could "bend it like Beckham," as he reportedly did a few late turns with the ball.

After the game, David, who now realised he had been spotted in the crowd, decided to climb over a fence as a way to avoid fans.

On Wednesday morning, Romeo took to his Instagram to share photos from his first Brentford game. He captioned the post: "Happy to make my debut @brentfordbteam and get the win."

His followers soon shared their congratulations to the football star, with a few comparing him to his dad.

One follower said: "make ur pops proud" as another added: "Well done and win."

A third person said: "Look at you, making us all SUPER PROUD!!"

David is currently one of the co-owners of Inter Miami CF, who Romeo usually plays for.

Last week, it was announced that Romeo would be on loan from the US team to Brentford FC until the end of the season.

Romeo said he is "very proud" and "very excited" to be joining Brentford FC after the deal was announced.

"I came here at the start to keep fit during the off-season," said Romeo. "The chance then came to come on loan here, and I’ve never been so excited."

Romeo continued: "It was a fun season [in the USA] and there were a lot of ups and downs, but I’m excited to come here and see what I can do.

The Brentford player also shared his news on Instagram with a snap of him and his dad David holding up his new football shirt.

"An exciting start to the year," Romeo said. "Looking forward to the challenge."

It comes after Romeo's younger brother Cruz Beckham also spoke of his interest in pursuing a career in football like David.

"I thought I would want to do football and I did that for a bit,” the star, 17, who signed with Arsenal in the past, revealed in an interview with i-D Magazine.

"At that point, I just decided: this is exactly what I want to do.”
