Cara Delevingne surprises fans as she fails to attend the launch of her own capsule collection – but erratic model still posts on social media amid claims her family are planning an intervention
- The British model was nowhere in sight as the sustainable collection of inclusive clothing and accessories was celebrated on Monday evening
- Delevingne’s absence from her own event was all the more curious by virtue of her very obvious presence on social media
- The model’s fans have been voicing their worries for the star after she was seen smoking a pipe of some kind while sitting alone in a car two weeks ago
- She also appeared erratic and out of sorts as she attempted to board a private jet Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles
- Now, her friends and family are searching for ways to help the troubled former ‘it girl’, with an intervention being considered
The stage was set, the black carpet rolled and New York Fashion Week employed as a glamorous backdrop for supermodel Cara Delevingne and the official launch of her brand new capsule collection CARA LOVES KARL – an exciting collaboration with the late Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic fashion house.
But as guests converged on New York’s financial district and Pine Street restaurant Saga, no doubt chosen as the venue for Delevingne’s launch because of its sweeping 63rd floor views, it’s principal designer appeared to be curiously absent.
The British model, 30, who recently lauded Lagerfeld as one of the major influences on her career, was nowhere in sight as the sustainable collection of inclusive clothing and accessories was celebrated by a guest list of stars from fashion, film and music.
AWOL: Cara Delevingne, seen here in a new campaign for her latest capsule collection, was curiously absent from its official launch in New York City on Monday evening
Delevingne’s absence from her own event was all the more curious by virtue of her very obvious presence on social media, where she paid tribute to the legendary designer on Monday evening while guests filed into the New York venue.
Reposting the collection’s promotional video, she wrote: ‘Happy belated birthday @karllagerfeld. What an honor that the #CaraLovesKarl collection is now available! I’m so proud of it.’
Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019 aged 85 from complications related to pancreatic cancer, would have celebrated his birthday on September 10, two days before the official launch.
Commenting on her new collaboration with the iconic German fashion house in a recent press release, she admitted Lagerfeld – who passed away aged 85 in 2019 – had been a key figure in her modelling career.

Worry: The model’s fans have been voicing their worries for the star after she was seen smoking a pipe of some kind while sitting alone in a car last week and then appearing erratic and out of sorts at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles (pictured)
She said: ‘I am so proud of the collection I have created along with the incredibly talented team at Karl Lagerfeld.
‘Karl was, and still is, an extremely important influence in my life and I’m honoured to have created this collection under his name.
‘I believe that Karl would have been very proud of the sustainable, genderless direction we went with, and I like to imagine he even would have worn some of the pieces himself. I can t wait to see how people wear all the different pieces we created.’

Striking: Delevingne’s airbrushed appearance in her new campaign is a far cry from her recent disheveled appearances in California
Delevingne has also starred in a 3D campaign featuring herself and Lagerfeld interacting as avatars in a digital playground, while 15 dedicated CARA LOVES KARL shops will open in different cities across the world, including in Milan, Los Angeles and Paris.

Bizarre: Little more than a fortnight ago she was seen ingesting a clear liquid from a dropper while sat in her parked car
Exhausted: Worse was to come at Van Nuys airport, where she appeared to be completely out of sorts while attempting to board a private jet owned by Jay-Z
‘We are all incredibly concerned. The situation has been building for a few weeks now, and Cara’s family is involved,’ a close friend told The Sun on Wednesday.
‘There is talk of staging some kind of intervention and making sure Cara gets the help she may well need,’ the person added. ‘She has been burning the candle at both ends of late, and it’s clearly taking its toll.’
Delevingne made her latest worrying appearance last Monday in Los Angeles, appearing disheveled and jittery prior to boarding Jay-Z’s private jet.
In attendance: Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev with Pier Paolo Righi at the Lagerfeld launch in New York City on Monday evening
Close: Delevingne with her supportive model sister Poppy. It’s understood that her family are now planning an intervention in a bid to help the troubled star
According to DailyMail.com sources, the cover girl appeared unable to control her body movements at certain points as she was seen on the phone, bending over, dropping her phone, and walking around looking very jittery and as if she was unable to stop moving.
Recently, Delevingne spent some time at the Burning Man festival at Black Rock desert in Nevada. Sources told DailyMail.com at that time the she didn’t eat or shower while at the event.
The source said: ‘She had just spent days in the desert, not eating all that much and she looked disheveled because she hadn’t had time to scrub up yet.’
He went on: ‘Her friends are worried about her generally after some erratic behavior, but she has a good group around her. Her sister was at the festival with her. She wasn’t alone and she has her back.’
The source continued: ‘Burning Man isn’t lined with burger vans like other festivals. You chuck everything you need in an RV and that’s what you have to live on while you’re there. Everything works on a swapping system.’
