Britney Spears’ father Jamie has turned the blame onto co-conservator Jodi Montgomery for the restrictive rules placed on his pop star daughter and claims that he has been blocked from communicating with her
Britney Spears’ father Jamie has turned the blame onto co-conservator Jodi Montgomery for the restrictive rules placed on his pop star daughter and claims that he has been blocked from communicating with her.
The 68-year-old dad of three has filed legal documents claiming that he has had zero involvement in his 39-year-old daughter’s conservatorship for nearly two years according to TMZ on Wednesday.
He also alleged that he has not spoken to Britney in quite a while as he ‘he has been cut off from communicating with her.’
Jamie placed all criticism for the restrictive rules placed on the star on the personal conservator Montgomery.
According to the documents, he claims that when Britney’s lawyer filed to appoint Montgomery he said at the time that his daughter did not have the mental capacity to make decisions about her treatment and that it was left to a conservator of her person which is now Montgomery.
Jamie claims that the court had never found that she was able to consent to medical treatment and that the court had never made such an order, according to TMZ.
The father went on to allege that it was Britney’s own lawyer, Sam Ingham, who has been seeking to take away his client’s right to make medical decisions on her behalf while authorizing decisions solely in the hands of Montgomery.
According to TMZ, the legal documents read: ‘Ms. Montgomery has been fully in charge of Ms. Spears’ day-to-day personal care and medical treatment, and Ms. Montgomery has made all decisions related to those matters.’
Montgomery, an experienced conservator with a degree in social welfare, was brought on to co-manage Britney’s affairs in September 2019, when her father Jamie Spears became ill
As Britney revealed that she is not allowed to marry or remove her birth control IUD during a conservatorship hearing last week, Jamie claims that if that is the case the blame should be placed on Montgomery and not him.
Jamie goes on to say that he had consented to Britney’s marriage when she was engaged to Jason Trawick in 2011 but the couple had split in 2013 before ever walking down the aisle.
In a different document obtained by TMZ, Jamie’s lawyer says ‘Mr. Spears believes it is important for the integrity of the conservatorship proceedings and in the best interests of Ms. Spears for the Court to order an investigation into the issues and claims raised by [Britney] at the June 23, 2021 status hearing.

Flying solo: Meanwhile, Jamie, who has struggled with his health over the past few years, appeared frail-looking on Monday as he stepped out to run errands in rural Kentwood, Louisiana where Britney grew up with her family
‘Either the allegations will be shown to be true, in which case corrective action must be taken, or they will be shown to be false, in which case the conservatorship can continue its course.’
‘It is not acceptable for Conservators or the Court to do nothing in response to Ms. Spears’ testimony.’

This came just a day after it was reported that Montgomery is ‘concentrated on giving her the tools to get better’ and is claiming that ‘nothing shady is going on.’
Montgomery, an experienced conservator with a degree in social welfare, was brought on to co-manage Britney’s affairs in September 2019, when her father Jamie Spears became ill.
She has remained in charge of Britney’s personal affairs, working as her ‘care manager.’
On Tuesday, a source claimed to People Magazine that Montgomery has been ‘working with a team of experts concentrated on giving Britney the tools to get better.’
This came just a day after it was reported that Montgomery is ‘concentrated on giving her the tools to get better’ and is claiming that ‘nothing shady is going on’ according to People (2016)
Britney, 39, is believed to have a mental health diagnosis that has never been revealed due to her sealed medical records, but the sources adds that ‘the hope is that she can eventually get out of the conservatorship.’
Last Wednesday, Britney alleged that her conservatorship is ‘abusive’ and even called out Montgomery, after it had previously been reported that the singer preferred her care manager over her father.
Britney said, in relation to Montgomery: ‘I’m talking to you today because I feel like Jodi is starting to kind of take it too far with me. They have me going to therapy twice a week and a psychiatrist.’
But People Magazine’s source claims that under California law, all conservators have to be investigated by the court, saying: ‘Progress has to be reported. Conservators are all closely monitored to assure nothing shady is happening.’
‘Even though Jamie is in charge of her finances, he still has to approve everything because everything is related to finances at the end of the day,’ the source adds.
‘If she wants to go to Hawaii, he has to approve that, because it costs money. If she wants to take her friends to dinner, he has to approve that, because it costs money. Jamie has the right to say no to certain things.’
Protesters gathered in Los Angeles on Wednesday ahead of the eagerly-anticipated hearing
Since the allegations last week in the hearing to request to end her conservatorship, Britney jetted off to Hawaii with longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari after describing the extent of her misery since her father was given almost complete control over her life and reported $60 million fortune in 2008.
Britney’s highly-publicized and contentious relationship with her once-estranged father has become has birthed ‘Free Britney’ movements worldwide among her fans and fellow celebrities concerned for her welfare.
It was revealed during the Wednesday hearing that Britney wants to end the conservatorship and that she has been opposing it quietly for the past seven years.
‘I want this conservatorship to end – I truly believe that this conservatorship is abusive,’ Spears told Judge Penny.
‘I want to be able to get married to my boyfriend and have a baby but the conservatorship told me I can’t do that,’ she continued.
‘I have an IUD (intrauterine device) inside me to prevent me from having a baby. I want to go to a doctor and take it out so I can have a baby but they (the conservatorship) told me no,’ she added.
‘I feel ganged up on and bullied and alone,’ the singer continued.
Couple: Britney, 39, and Sam, 27, who’ve been dating since 2016, are on holiday in Hawaii following her bombshell testimony last week in her ongoing conservatorship legal battle
‘I want changes. I want changes going forward, and I deserve changes. It’s my wish and dream for all of this to end.’
Meanwhile, Britney and boyfriend Sam Asghari have been enjoying a sun-kissed getaway to Hawaii following the pop star’s bombshell testimony last week in her conservatorship case.
And on Monday, the pop singer was seen working out with Asghari, 27, in a short video clip he posted to his Instagram.
In the clip, Sam shows off his impressive biceps as he flexes in front of a mirror as Britney works out on a treadmill behind him.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR BRITNEY SPEARS’ CONSERVATORSHIP BATTLE?
Britney Spears has made it clear that she wants her ‘abusive’ conservatorship battle to come to an end, but it’s certainly not a simple matter.
The 39-year-singer still needs to formally ask a judge by filing a petition to terminate the order, at which point the court would then require a further hearing to assess the situation.
The next step is for Spears to file a formal request to terminate the order – which she said Wednesday she did not know she could do.

‘Ma’am, I didn’t know I could petition the conservatorship to end it,’ she said.
Adding: ‘I’m sorry for my ignorance, but I honestly didn’t know that. But honestly, but I don’t think I owe anyone to be evaluated.’
A court-appointed investigator will speak with everyone involved in the court-ordered arrangement once a termination request has been filed.
However, legal experts have warned that it won’t be easy for Spears to terminate the agreement without putting up a fight.
MSNBC legal analyst Danny Cevallos said after the hearing: ‘This is probably the most unique conservatorship case ever. The judge will not terminate this conservatorship lightly or without ample evidence.’
‘Once the system gets ahold of you… whether it’s a county – or a court-supervised private conservatorship, they will drain your money and it is really hard to get out,’ attorney Peter Walzer told The Los Angeles Times.
‘When it comes to the decision of whether or not to remove the conservatorship, the judge has to ultimately consider the best interest of the conservatee — in this case, Britney Spears,’ Sabino Biondi, a trust and estates attorney and partner at Wilk Auslander LLP in New York City added to the LA Times.
‘Even though she is an adult and appears competent and ready to take over her own affairs, the court has the discretion and responsibility to decide if it is in Britney Spears’ best interest to remove the conservatorship.’
‘If the judge has any concerns that she might not be responsible enough to handle her own financial affairs, [the judge] won’t remove it.’
Attorney Adam Streisand, who used to represent Spears, told CNN Wednesday night: ‘There’s been a terrible miscarriage of justice. She’s been deprived of her rights. She’s never had anyone who has advocated for her.’
Legal analyst Lisa Green told the TODAY show after the hearing: ‘While Britney would wish the judge could wave a magic wand and end this, what’s going to happen is that it will start a whole new proceeding, and the judge will hear from Britney, and her friends and relatives can speak.’
‘But the conservators, including her father, may not agree with her,’ Green added.
What Spears will need now is evidence to prove the conservatorship is no longer necessary, including medical evaluations – which the singer stressed on Wednesday she did not want to do.
