Body of Aretha Franklin arrives for final public viewing

DETROIT — The 24-karat-gold-plated casket carrying the body of Aretha Franklin has arrived for her third — and final — public viewing on Thursday.

Fans who queued up outside New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit shouted “Aretha!” as the Queen of Soul’s flashy casket was carried inside.

The public viewing will run from noon until 4 p.m.

On Friday, the “Respect” diva will be laid to rest at Greater Grace Temple — where more than two dozen celebrities will take the stage in her honor starting at 10 a.m.

Stevie Wonder, Ariana Grande, Faith Hill and Chaka Khan are among the performers while music mogul Clive Davis, former President Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Al Sharpton and others will deliver speeches.

Franklin, 76, died on Aug. 16 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
