Bette, Sarah Jessica and Kathy return for Hocus Pocus 2 teaser

‘Lock up your children!’: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy bring back the magic in new teaser for Hocus Pocus 2 almost 30 years after the starring in the original film

Hocus Pocus 2 has received a new teaser trailer sure to delight fans with the return of the beloved Sanderson sisters.

Played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, the sisters are a trio of witches who headlined the original 1993 movie.

And now in the trailer for its sequel, they are summoned back from the beyond by a group of teenagers who perform an occult ritual.

Back at it: Hocus Pocus 2 has received a new teaser trailer featuring the return of the beloved Sanderson sisters played by (from left) Kathy Najimy, Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker

Michael Henry, Daryl Jim Diaz, and Tim Murray played the teens in the 1993 film, directed by Kenny Ortega, who later helmed High School Musical.

Meanwhile Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo and Lilia Buckingham play the group of youngsters who, along with the Sandersons, head up the cast of the new movie.

Whitney’s character Becca is celebrating her 16th birthday and plans to have a typical quiet birthday with a ‘scary movie marathon.’

Then viewers meet the magic shop owner Gilbert, played by Sam Richardson, whom Veep fans will recognize as the lovable and hyper-competent Richard Splett.

There’s Sarah Jessica: Hocus Pocus 2 will drop on Disney + on September 30, leaving fans plenty of time to watch it ahead of Halloween this year

Spellbinding: Winifred Sanderson’s unmistakable voice gleefully peals through the forest: ‘Lock up your children! Yes, Salem, we’re back!’

Impossible to forget: Kathy was back in her inimitable look as Mary Sanderson, one of the three sisters alongside Winifred and Sarah

‘You know, legend has it is on the 16th birthday that a witch gets her powers,’ Gilbert says as a black cat scampers eerily across his establishment.

The arrival of the cat brings back memories of a character from the original film called Thackery Binx, a 17th century man who gets transfigured into a black cat and is doomed to live forever in his feline form.

In another throwback to the 1993 movie, the teaser includes a shot of the grave of Billy Butcherson, played by returning cast member Doug Jones.

Billy is the ex-boyfriend of the Bette Midler character Winifred Sanderson – ex because he philandered with the Sarah Jessica Parker character Sarah Sanderson.

Winifred retaliated by poisoning Billy into an early grave – from which she retrieves him as a zombie in the original film.

Apparently Billy is being brought back from the dead again, as a shot in the new teaser shows a shovel striking the ground in front of his tombstone.

Soon the new teens for the sequel are seen venturing into the forest and sitting on the leafy ground, performing the ritual to bring the Sandersons back.

The memorable Black Flame Candle is set up on the ground between them as they utter the incantation that puts the spell into effect.
