Al Roker Replaces Megyn Kelly On 'Today's Third Hour After Her Shocking Exit

It’s official. The Today show’s third hour opened without Megyn Kelly on Monday morning, October 29, following her shocking exit last week.

Instead, hosts Al Roker, Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin opened the show this morning.

“Today as you know we are starting a new chapter in the third hour of our show,” Kotb noted in brief opening remarks before moving onto coverage of the tragic Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. “As it evolves we want you to know that the entire ‘Today’ family will continue to begin you informative and important stories just as we always have.”

Radar first reported that Roker would be the temporary replacement for Kelly following her blackface remarks that led to her departure from the network.

According to an insider who spoke to Radar, the NBC show’s longtime weatherman, 64 was “thrilled” to be hosting the 9 a.m. hour again.

“He was the host of this hour before he got dumped and replaced by Megyn,” the source added. “He’s still pissed NBC dropped him in the first place, but happy to get his old hour back.”

Before Kelly joined the Today family in 2017, Roker hosted the 9 a.m. hour with Tamron Hall, who soon jumped ship and left the network.

As Radar previously reported, Kelly will not return to the network, and is currently in contentious negotiation talks on her exit.

A source told Radar last week she is demanding NBC pay out the remainder of her $69 million three-year contract, and will likely return to her alma mater, Fox News.
