Emily Ratajkowski is on board with this summer’s hottest nail-art trend. While celebrating her 31st birthday in Tulum, Mexico, this week, the model was photographed rocking a baby french manicure with a neutral base and dark-brown polish swiped along the tips in a thin line. The accent-color choice perfectly complemented the strappy giraffe-print bikini and floral sun hat she posed in on the beach. “Burnt n happy birthday girl,” she captioned a series of photos on Instagram, seen below.
Baby french manicures are a twist on the classic style, featuring a much thinner accent line on the nail tip. “It gives the french a more subtle and modern look,” Lilly Rojas, cofounder of Brooklyn-based salon Lili and Cata, previously told POPSUGAR of the increasingly popular manicure. She added that it’s an ideal nail-art option for those with short nails and suggested switching it up from traditional white tips in favor of something more colorful. “Many of our clients are having fun with it and go multicolor for their tips.”
We’re not surprised Ratajkowski opted for a neutral and brown baby french for her tropical birthday getaway. A quick scroll through her Instagram reveals that most of her manicures are pretty low-key — the new mom typically has just a simple clear coat or all-natural, polish-free nails, and if she’s wearing acrylics, they’re minimally decorated. At the 2022 Met Gala, she let her beaded vintage Versace dress be the center of attention by rocking an almond-shaped milk-bath manicure.
