Emilia Clarke Just Cut Off All Her Hair And It's SO Short

It’s been a transformational week for Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke. Last week, Clarke took to Instagram to debut a brand-new tattoo: a series of dragons delicately drawn on her wrist. The tattoo is particularly sentimental considering the actress has wrapped filming on the last season of the hit HBO show. But that wasn’t the only change Clarke had planned. At a Florence + The Machine concert at the Hollywood Bowl, Clarke debuted her shortest hair ever: a fresh pixie cut.

After stepping out at the concert, Clarke took to Instagram to make her new look official. “Me: I’m thinking when Gwyneth and Brad had the same hair cut. @jennychohair : I got ‘chu,” she captioned the photo of her new short cut. In usual Clarke fashion, she added a string of hilarious hashtags, including #fortheloveofthelowmaintenance.

Clarke’s new haircut is the latest in a string of hair changes for the star. She’s worn an ice-blonde wig on the show since the first season, but dyed her brown hair blonde late last year. Before that, she copped off her hair into a chin-grazing bob with bangs for her role in the Solo: A Star Wars Story film. Now, her once bleach-blonde hair is a little darker, and her hair has been cropped and layered to just under her ears.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will debut in May 2019, and each cast member is marking the end of the era differently. Sophie Turner, who play Sansa Stark, recently got a wolf tattoo with the quote, “The pack survives,” to honor her character. She also has a matching tattoo with onscreen sister Maisie Williams of the date they got their roles: “07.08.09.” Williams also debuted a new choppy, layered lob with bangs back in August.

The British-born actress has worn this emerald green blazer several times before—once last week during her dragon tattoo session, and once before in Cannes. Above, shop four green blazer options that our fashion editors love for fall.
