British farmers have been struggling to stay afloat through the coronavirus pandemic along with many other businesses, as restaurants and high street stores remain shut due to the lockdown. However, supermarket Morrisons has come up with a new way to support the country’s farmers with its latest food box. The new delivery service provides customers with fresh essentials that they can order direct to their door.

The new British Farming Food Box includes seven packs of meat, cheese, milk, butter, and vegetables including a kilo of potatoes.
The 10kg box is £45, including next day contact-free delivery so that customers and staff can keep their distance.
Morrisons’ new box contains produce that would usually be destined for the restaurant trade, but as businesses have to stay closed as lockdown guidelines are in place, farmers are struggling to sell their goods.
The new initiative will also help to keep farmers going through a charity donation of £1 per box to The Prince’s Countryside Fund.

In a statement, David Potts, Chief Executive of Morrisons, said: “Being the biggest customer of British Farming, we want to help farmers while also playing our full part in feeding the nation.
“Our farmers produce some of the world’s finest meats, vegetables and cheeses which we want to offer to our customers.”
The new food boxes have been created by the supermarket to feed those who are self-isolating, vulnerable and unable to get to the shops for their usual groceries.
Many Britons are having to stay at home due to long term health problems.
