Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Named 2020 Grammy Salute To Industry Icons Honoree

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been named the 2020 Grammy Salute To Industry Icons honoree.

Recognized for his 25-year trailblazing career and continuous influence on the music industry and beyond, the three-time Grammy winner and music mogul will be honored at an exclusive Grammy Week event hosted by the Recording Academy and Clive Davis.

The Pre-Grammy Gala is held on January 25, the night before the 62nd Grammy Awards.

“For nearly three decades, Diddy has fused his boundless creativity and sharp entrepreneurial spirit to create timeless art and build brands and institutions that have shifted our global music culture,” said Deborah Dugan, President/CEO of the Recording Academy.

Responding to the news, Combs said, “To be honored at this year’s Pre-GRAMMY Gala and receive the Industry Icons Award is truly a blessing.”

“Clive Davis and Arista Records gave me a chance when I was starting Bad Boy Records, he was one of the first industry executives to really believe in me. I’m forever grateful for him,” he added.

Owner of the label Bad Boy Records, Combs has fostered talent such as Mariah Carey, Method Man, Boyz II Men and Lil’ Kim.
