These Celebrities Are Celebrating Donald Trump's Impeachment

After months — nay, years — of talk of impeachment, the first benchmark has been reached. On Dec. 18, 2019, the House of Representatives voted to impeach the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. And to say it became a popular topic of conversation is putting it lightly.

Plenty of celebrities have spoken out against Trump over the years, from model Chrissy Teigen to Marvel actor Mark Ruffalo, and many, many more. Here are a few of the famous names who celebrated the impeachment verdict on Twitter.

Lizzo

The singer, songwriter, and flutist Lizzo had an incredible year this year, to say the least. She became a breakout star, winning awards and topping charts like nobody’s business. And through it all, she always continued to voice her dislike of the president.

On Sept. 24, 2019, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced the formal inquiry into the articles of impeachment. Lizzo then tweeted simply, “IM🍑MENT,” using the peach emoji to stand in for that part of the word. On Dec. 18, she quote-tweeted herself, adding, “This aged well…”

Rosie O’Donnell

Trump has managed to anger many celebrities throughout his time in office. But his beef with actor Rosie O’Donnell goes back even further. There’s a lot to recount, but needless to say, these two are not fans of one another in any way, shape, or form.

O’Donnell has continued to be vocal about her hatred of Trump as the process of impeachment began. In fact, her Twitter bio reads, “IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT AND ALL HIS MEN.” So it wasn’t surprising to see her tweet “HAPPY IMPEACHMENT DAY,” along with plenty of other tweets on the subject, as the news was announced.

Cher

If EGO (almost an EGOT) winner Cher could turn back time, we know the one thing she’d want to change: Trump being elected into office. Though she’s best known for her music, the artist has become a groundbreaking activist over the years, and she’s very against everything 45 stands for.

Cher’s tweets can often be a bit difficult to decipher, but it’s pretty obvious that she is happy about the impeachment. Shortly after the announcement, she tweeted about it, later following up by sharing her emotions through music, sharing the song “Oh Happy Day,” and adding “its how i feel.”

John Legend

Trump has made it his business to attack celebrities, especially those who criticize him, while he’s been in office. Musician John Legend is among those who, along with his wife, Teigen, has been critical of the president, and became the subject of one of his Twitter rants.

Legend retweeted a statement about the ruling, writing, “Thank you to the House of Representatives for doing your constitutional duty.” He also urged citizens to help the process move along, adding, “Everyone please call your senators and tell them to remove this evil man from office.” Of course, only time will tell if this plea works.
