Queen of Wags Coleen Rooney prepares for England farewell at Wembley after 15 years on the throne

The 32-year-old has been with Wayne every step of the way, from childhood sweetheart to Washington Wag, and she's had her say this week.

As Rooney's return divided opinion, Coleen cut through the noise.

"Can't believe how much negativity there is going around… Let’s celebrate each other’s achievements," she wrote on Twitter.

“A record was broken for the country after 50 years, surely that deserves some sort of recognition.”

And Coleen deserves her recognition, too.

So, here, Sunsport takes a look back at the life and times of England's most well-known wag over the last 15 years.

Coleen, who met Rooney in school at the age of 12 when he offered to mend her bike, was soon on the international scene after her boyfriend became the youngest man to ever play for England in 2003.

It was all a bit of a whirlwind back then.

But by 2006, when England headed for the World Cup in Germany, she had been fully initiated into the world of the wags.

Alongside Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole, friendships blossomed and champagne flowed in Baden-Baden.

The regular snaps of Coleen and the girls on nights out while the boys of the Golden Generation underwhelmed – again – acted as a sideshow to the tournament.

From then on, strict restrictions were put in place.

Coleen traded Becks and Cheryl for Sir Trevor McDonald as she presented a documentary about Rett syndrome, a genetic disorder her younger sister Rosie had.

Rosie passed away in January 2013 aged 14 and Coleen released a statement.

It said: "She was such a strong little girl and an inspiration to us all.

"We shall cherish forever the memories we have shared and the love she showed us each and every day of her life."

In 2007, Coleen released a book called 'Coleen: Welcome to My World' in which she discussed her taste in fashion and gave tips on style and fitness.

Guardian review read: "It's inoffensive – it leaves you feeling a little bit like you've stumbled into a mild-mannered, insipid and somewhat prissy hen do."

A year later, Coleen and Rooney exchanged wedding vows in a small ceremony on the Italian Riviera.

It was held at a 17th Century Palace in the pouring rain.

Only a few family members were in attendance but the rest of the world were invited through a £2.5million agreement with a British magazine.

Deputy mayor Gianni Costa said Coleen wore a white dress worth £200,000 with pearls, while Wayne was in a hazel-coloured suit.

A year later, Rooney had an heir.

Kai Wayne Rooney was born in November 2009 and he had three more siblings to follow.

Coleen also had her own moment in the spotlight when she released a keep fit DVD called Coleen McLoughlin's Brand New Body Workout that includes "boxing" and "great music".

It is still available on eBay for £2.58.

Nowadays, Coleen spends her time raising their four children – Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass – in their new home State-side.

She is more regularly seen on a beach with the family or on date nights with DC United's new star Rooney, which are uploaded to Instagram for her 724,000 followers.

On Thursday, it will be a fond farewell to Rooney – but we'll miss Coleen, too.
