Southampton hilariously troll Harry Redknapp over I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! appearance 13 years after quitting Saints for rivals Portsmouth

The 71-year-old is about to enter the Australian jungle after signing up for the latest series of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

But Southampton are clearly not in a forgiving mood – and it all dates back to 2005.

Back then, Redknapp jumped ship after failing to keep the Saints in the Premier League, and rejoined their arch-rivals Portsmouth.

The club took to Twitter to post a hilarious comment ahead of 'Arry's upcoming TV appearance.

It read: "Careful Harry doesn’t leave you halfway through to join @bbcstrictly ? #saintsfc".

That is of course a reference to ITV's rival show on the BBC, Strictly Come Dancing.

Redknapp left St Mary's Stadium in December 2005, rejoining his old club Portsmouth in the Premier League.

It obviously didn't go down too well with Saints fans, many of whom blamed Redknapp for getting the club relegated to the Championship.

And more salt was added to the wounds as Redknapp famously won the FA Cup with Pompey in 2008.

It's a fair assumption Southampton club officials WON'T be voting for Redknapp to win this year's reality TV show.

But they might pick up the phone to nominate him for some of those hated Bushtucker trials.

The Sun has reported how the former footie manager will be paid a massive half a million pounds for his time on the show.

When asked who was heading into the jungle during an appearance on Lorraine, The Sun’s Dan Wootton said: “Harry Redknapp, who‘s secured, by all accounts, a £500,000 deal, one of the biggest ever to go on the show.

“He’s doing it at 71 though so I guess he wanted the dosh.”

The Sun Online exclusively revealed the line-up over the weekend as the stars began their journeys to Australia before the show starts this coming weekend.

A whole host of famous faces are set to grace our screens when it launches on Sunday.

So far this year, the confirmed stars are EastEnders actress Rita Simons, television presenter Nick Knowles, actress Emily Atack, former The X Factor singer Fleur East, The Vamps star James McVey, The Chase “Governess” Anne Hegerty, footballing legend Harry Redknapp, Coronation Street star Alya Nazir and Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer.

And there's still a mystery star who is yet to be revealed by ITV who will likely be hoping for success.
