Young man, 20, found dead after disappearing on work night out

A 20-year-old man who vanished on a work night out in Glasgow has been found dead.

James Anderson, 20, was last spotted in the city on Tuesday night but never made it back home.

His dad Joe launched a frantic appeal on social media to find him, saying his family were "extremely worried".

But Mr Anderson later shared the heartbreaking news his son’s body had been found, the Daily Record reports.

He said: "I can’t believe I am having to write this but unfortunately it’s been confirmed James has passed away this morning, still on going enquires to exactly what has happened.

"On behalf myself, James’s mum and the rest of the family we all appreciate the kind words and help from everyone."

It is not known if there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

James’s dead earlier wrote when the appeal to find his son was launched: "This is my son James Anderson.

"He went on a works night out on Tuesday night to Glasgow and hasn’t been seen since.

"We have had no contact from James Anderson which isn’t like him. We are extremely worried."

A spokeswoman from Police Scotland said: "At 10.25am on Wednesday, October 24 the body of a 20-year-old man was pulled from the River Clyde near to Glasgow Green.

"A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the cause of death and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

Friends of James took to social media to pay tribute to the huge Celtic fan.

Steven Malarkey wrote: "Can’t actually believe this is happening tbh, lost for words and don’t know what to say.

"R.I.P to one of my very best friends James Anderson, a brother and one of the best people you could ever meet. Gonna miss you lots mate, you were one of a kind, love you brer."

Mark James West posted on social media: "Rest in Paradise James Anderson. A true Celtic man. Gone to soon mate."

While Ross Stevenson said: "Only picture a have of us can’t believe I am writing this in total shock wasn’t to long ago we where talking about a catch up then today find out this horrible news rest in piece James Anderson."

Shannon Brown took to Facebook to say: "In absolutely utter shock! Was amazing to work with you and an honour to call you my friend RIP James Anderson taken from everyone far to young ️you will be missed!"

Meanwhile a Celtic fan group has called for a minute of applause in the 19th minute at their semi-final against Hearts at Murrayfield on Sunday.

Cmon the Hoops Celtic posted: "Today we learn of the death of another young Celtic man James Anderson.

"He hadn’t been seen since Tuesday night and his body was found this morning. Let’s get the word out for a minute applause on Sunday on the 19th minute for him. Rest in Paradise James."
