A British military bunker fan was shot at and arrested after repeatedly trying to break into a Swedish naval base he claimed to believe was abandoned.
The suspect is named in court documents seen by MailOnline as Max Leonard, 33. He was arrested with an unnamed Belgian man as they both tried to enter Muskö Naval Base just south of Stockholm on Tuesday.
It is not clear whether Mr Leonard was a resident in Sweden or a tourist, but court documents record he needed the services of a translator at the prison he was taken to in the suburb of Flemmingsberg.

Senior Public Prosecutor Hans-Jörgen Hanström told Local.se the men tried to enter the base on more than one occasion between November 30 and December 2. The Belgian man was in his thirties and also had an interest in military bunkers, it is claimed.
According to Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, the suspects insisted they were visiting the base as part of their interest in naval bunkers and thought it was abandoned.

They had to walk past several warning signs to get in and were greeted with several warning shots fired by a guard.
Lawyer Lars Hurtig, who was representing one of the men, said his client denied the charges against him.

‘Personally, I think this is a heavy-handed overreaction and something has been set in motion that is rather ridiculous,’ he said.
Muskö Naval Base is an underground facility that was built in 1950 after the evacuation of 1.5million tonnes of rock.
It used to be Sweden’s main east coast maritime base, but this was moved to further south to the town of Karlskrona in 2004.
The facility is still home to a civilian dockyard which sometimes repairs military ships. It is also the home of Sweden’s maritime intelligence agency.
