Two schoolboys, 15, suffer serious injuries after being hit by car while walking along pavement to class

Two teenage boys have been seriously injured in a horror crash as they walked along a pavement to school.

Emergency services rushed to the scene close to Ashfield College in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, following calls from a member of the public at around 8.46am earlier today.

The two injured boys, both 15, were struck by a vehicle when it collided with a wall in Yew Tree Lane, police say.

They both suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital. Their parents have been informed.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: ‘We are currently at the scene of an incident which has left two boys with serious injuries in Harrogate.

‘At 8.46am a member of the public called 999 after a collision took place on Yew Tree Lane, near to Ashfield College.

‘The two injured boys were pedestrians and were injured when a vehicle collided with a wall at the location.

‘The boys have been taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries by Yorkshire Ambulance Service.’

Firefighters are at the scene to ‘make the area safe’, while a number of road closures have been put in place while police investigate.

A statement added: ‘Road and path closures are in place while emergency crews attended the location and an initial investigation into the incident is carried out. 

‘Please make alternative arrangements if you plan to travel in this area.

‘This will have been a distressing incident to witness, and we urge those who have been affected by the events to seek the necessary help if needed.’
