Olga Ukhova, 41, had found new life with another man and was eight months pregnant when she died.
She had just divorced husband Dmitry Golubtsov and went into their former marital home to settle bills with him when he beat her repeatedly with a bat then shot her twice.
Police said he shot her first in the face and then her pregnancy bump, in order to kill the unborn child from another man.
Then he dumped her body on the side of a highway, according to reports.

Golubtsov later called a friend and "confessed" to having killed his ex-wife, according to law enforcement.
This friend immediately phoned police and gave details of Golubtsov’s Niva car.
When a patrol car approached his vehicle, Golubtsov opened fire, hitting officer Viktor Belinsky in the neck through the windscreen.
The brave police captain staggered out of his car and tried to load his handgun to shoot at Golubtsov but collapsed.
The jealous ex-husband then used his gun to take his own life, officials said.
The policeman is seriously wounded and in intensive care.
Neighbour Nikolay Sitnikov said: “The Nazis did not torture people like this guy did…
“He shot her into the abdomen and head.
“How could he do this…?”

Olga Ukhova had an adult son, conscripted into the Russian army, from a previous relationship, and ran her own successful small business.
Investigative Committee official Natalia Letenkova said Golubtsov had a criminal record for hooliganism, using a gun and breaking traffic rules.
A female friend Anna Belyaeva said: "This man was a good friend of our family.
“We did not know anything wrong about him.
“Our children knew him and loved him.
“What happened to him?”
Another friend said he was “kind and nice”.
