Trump spars with reporters, calls one a 'rude, terrible person'

Washington: President Donald Trump had a confrontational exchange with White House reporters on Wednesday during a news conference to discuss the results of Tuesday's election.

Trump refused to answer a follow-up question from CNN reporter Robert Acosta, who persisted in his attempt to ask the president about the Russia investigation. Trump spoke loudly over Acosta and demanded he hand over the microphone. When a White House aide attempted to take the microphone from him, Acosta yanked it back.

Trump called Acosta a "rude, terrible" person.

Trump on Wednesday said he hopes he can work with Congress to get enough money to build his long-promised border wall but that he would not necessarily force a government shutdown over the issue.

"We need the money to build the wall, the whole wall, not pieces of it," Trump told reporters at a news conference at the White House following Tuesday's midterm election.

"We need the wall, many Democrats know we need the wall, and we're just going to have to see what happens."
