Tonight’s £115m Euromillions jackpot could create UK’s fourth biggest winner

A £115 million EuroMillions jackpot could create the UK’s fourth biggest winner if it is scooped by a single ticket-holder on Friday.

Players have been urged to buy their tickets early ahead of the "super jackpot" draw .

UK ticket-holders have won five EuroMillions jackpots in the past 12 months.

In July Fred and Lesley Higgins from Aberdeenshire won £57.9 million after having their winning ticket torn in two.

The biggest UK EuroMillions winner this year was an anonymous ticket-holder who banked £121 million in April, while in February another anonymous player won £77 million.

Currently the biggest lottery win in the UK is that of Colin and Chris Weir from Largs in North Ayrshire, who won £161 million on EuroMillions in 2011.

Married for 30 years and with two children, the life-changing £161m prize catapulted them into the Sunday Times Rich List above Beatle Ringo Starr and Sir Tom Jones.

Psychiatric nurse Mrs Weir, 55, and Mr Weir, 64, who worked as a TV cameraman and studio manager for 23 years, have reportedly bought a fleet of cars for friends since their win as well as a mansion.

A single winner of this Friday’s jackpot would also sit behind Gillian and Adrian Bayford, who won £148 million in 2012.

Children’s nurse Gillian, 40, and record seller Adrian, 41, from Haverhill, Suffolk, said they planned to fork out on luxury holidays and cars when they won

Sadly, the couple split 15 months after their win and Gillian revealed that their marriage had “broken down irretrievably”.

The lucky winner of tonight’s draw will replace Neil Trotter on the list of Britain’s biggest jackpot winners.

Car obsessive Nigel, from Dorking, Surrey, became the fourth biggest lottery to date when he scooped £107m on the EuroMillions lottery .
