Theresa May stuns newlyweds by ‘crashing’ their wedding photos after her boat moored next to their reception venue

This is the shocking moment Prime Minister Theresa May ‘crashed’ a wedding on the Isle of Wight.

Jason and Michelle Dight, had just exchanged their vows at the yacht haven in Cowes and were having photos taken in the marina. 

But the waterside scene is interrupted when Mrs May, flanked by security, turned up by boat at the Royal Yacht Squadron.

She then posed for pictures with the amazed couple before continuing to the town centre.

An astounded Michelle, 32, said: ‘We decided to pose for photos near the jetty. We saw this great big motor cruiser. It pulled up at the jetty and someone said ‘It’s Theresa May.’

‘We were both saying, ‘no way’. As she was coming up the jetty, we asked the security staff if she would pose for pictures with us.’

Prime Minister Theresa May ‘crashed’ wedding photos on the Isle of Wight

Mrs May, who was wearing navy trousers, while plimsolls, a white short and beige bodywarmer, and wore a small rucksack on her back, confessed she was ‘not really dressed for the occasion’.

Jason, 36, of Cowes, said: ‘As she came up the jetty, we called her over and she stopped for a photo and told us how beautiful Michelle looked.

‘She said ‘I’m not really dressed for the occasion’ before standing between us and posing for the photo. She congratulated us both and gave us her best wishes for the future.

‘We told her we hoped she enjoyed her stay on the Isle of Wight.’

Hairdresser Michelle joked: ‘It had to be the best photo-bomb ever.’

Jason, who works for an aerospace firm, added: ‘We were just in the right place at the right time.

‘Of course, it was what everybody was talking about when we got back to the yacht haven. Some people did not believe us – they thought we were joking.’

Number 10 Downing Street confirmed that 61-year-old Mrs May, who was with her husband Philip, had been on a private visit to the island at the weekend.
