Terrifying footage has captured the moment a crane comes crashing down amid a super typhoon. 

Filmed in Tai Kok Tsui, Hong Kong, the video shows Typhoon Mangkhut slamming into the city.

Skyscrapers are seen ravaged by the wild and destructive weather causing a skyscraper to fall from a building.

Located at the Boundary Street and Tai Kok Tsui Road intersection, the under-construction building is covered in a green sheet.

The crane toppled between 1pm and 2pm after it was seen leaning earlier in the day, according to Coconuts Hong Kong.  

The building is understood to be a residential apartment complex with 22 levels and a total of 76 units.

According to a sales brochure, the building was originally anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2019.

Deadly Typhoon Mangkhut initially ripped through northern Philippines, killing over 60 people. 

The typhoon has since moved towards southern China where authorities have issued a red alert and 2.4 million people have been relocated. 

Mangkhut is the strongest storm 2018 has seen with winds of more than 175 miles per hour smashing through the Philippines. 

The gusts weakened to 161 mph when they blew out to the South China Sea, taking aim at southern China and Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Observatory said Mangkhut would bring heavy downfall and frequent squalls, despite the storm weakening slightly. 

Hong Kong Security Minister John Lee Ka-chiu urged residents to prepare for the worst.

‘Because Mangkhut will bring winds and rains of extraordinary speeds, scope and severity, our preparation and response efforts will be greater than in the past,’ Mr Lee said.

‘Each department must have a sense of crisis, make a comprehensive assessment and plan, and prepare for the worst.’

The super-Typhoon is almost twice the size of Hurricane Florence, which hit the American East Coast with wings of 90mph.
