Stalker pensioner admits sending sick cards to BBC Points West presenter threatening to RAPE her

Gordon Hawthorn, 68, pleaded guilty to stalking Alex Lovell, who works for BBC TV’s Points West.

Anonymous cards signed “Gordon” arrived at the Beeb’s centre in Bristol.

Married Ms Lovell, 45, said: “He stole two years of my freedom with his persistent threats of rape.

“Nowhere felt safe and every day I’d look over my shoulder. He was sexually aggressive, misogynistic and frightening.”

One chilling message read: “I hope to be with you very soon. Lots of love and kisses from your stalker and your rapist!!”

The breakthrough came in March when a member of the public recognised his handwriting, Bristol magistrates heard.

Hawthorn, of Street, Somerset, will be sentenced at Bristol crown court on January 3.
