Sri Lankan police were searching Tuesday for a truck and van feared to be packed with explosives, just days after suicide bombers killed at least 321 in the capital city, according to local media.
The State Intelligence Service alerted all security forces about the vehicles — along with some motorcycles — which are suspected to have entered the capital Colombo with explosives, according to the Sri Lankan Times Online.
Police intelligence services also passed on license plate details, with officers based at Colombo Harbor put on high alert, the outlet reported.
It comes just days after the Easter Sunday suicide bombings that killed 321 and injured at least 500 in churches and luxury hotels in the capital.
Officials have blamed two radical Islamic terror groups — National Thowheed Jamath and Jammiyathul Millathu Ibrahim — claiming it was retaliation for shootings at mosques in New Zealand.
