Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino praised young fan who saved his mum from drowning after reading about it in The Sun

The impressed Spurs manager sent a letter to fan Luca Buonanno, 12, who we highlighted last month had pulled his lifeless mum Marissa Jacobs, 45, from the sea.

He hauled back onto the beach where a team of doctors who were holidaying on the beach managed to save her life after carrying out CPR for more than 15 minutes.

In his letter Mauricio wrote: "I have been made aware of your recent heroics and I wanted too personally write to you to pass my admiration of your courageous act.

"This must have taken tremendous bravery and you should be extremely proud of yourself. I would like to send my best wishes from all the staff and players at the club," and added a signed photo of Spurs and England hot shot harry Kane Last month we revealed how Luca had dramatically helped bring his photographer mum "back from the dead" after she collapsed in the sea at Catanzaro, Italy.

Mum of three Marissa, from Potters Bar, Herts, was on holiday with hubby Domenico when the drama unfolded and spent a week in hospital before being allowed back to Britain.

Yesterday Luca said: "I just did what anyone else would do if they saw their mum was in trouble. I didn't think about anything else other than saving her. I didn't have to think long about it I just summoned all my strength and dragged her back to the shore.

Luckily some doctors were nearby and they helped save her. I didn't do anything really.

"Getting the letter from Mauricio and the signed photo from Harry Kane is amazing, it made my day and I want to thank them for their generosity – I will have lots to talk about when I go back to school.'

Property developer dad Domenico, 51, said:"She was a dead mother and a dead wife but she’s managed to survive. It’s all down to Luca being a hero getting her out of the sea and the doctors who were passing. They just wouldn’t let her go."
