The shocking moment an allegedly drunk passenger on a Scoot flight became embroiled in a violent altercation has been caught on camera.

The commotion on the Gold Coast flight bound for Singapore forced the plane to cut its journey short.  

Scoot Flight TR7 was around one hour and 20 minutes into its eight-hour journey when the pilot was forced to make the emergency landing in Sydney due to the out-of-control passenger.

Footage shows a vicious fight break out between the man and other passengers as others watch on in horror. 

The man partially stripped off his clothes before eventually being tackled to the ground.  

The rowdy man had begun drinking heavily after he discovered the flight was delayed, one witness claimed in a clip posted to Facebook.

According to the passenger, the man’s attitude turned aggressive roughly 20 minutes into the flight. 

He is understood to have been restrained by passengers and staff as the plane made its descent.

Australian Federal Police officers and paramedics reportedly became involved upon the plane landing in Sydney. 

Initial reports suggested the man had been self-harming.
