One-car open sleigh: Santa is pulled along by a BMW and even takes a selfie as he speeds down Russian highway

  • The sleigh flies down the road at night causing red sparks to fly off its runners
  • It is being pulled by a blue BMW on a road in Rostov-on-Don, south-west Russia
  • Santa even puts his hand in the air and takes a selfie while riding down the road

This is the moment Santa Claus swapped his reindeer for something much faster and sped down a highway towed behind a powerful BMW car.

The video shows the blue BMW driving down the highway in the city of Rostov-on-Don in south-western Russia’s Rostov Oblast region.

Sparks fly from the sleigh’s runners as they scrape along the road behind the car.

The person recording the bizarre scene follows the BMW and spots Santa waving his phone in the air to film his high-speed jaunt.

The scenes were recorded at night with the streets relatively empty.

Local media report that the unnamed BMW driver, 31, has been found by local police and fined £12 (1,000 RUB) for the stunt.

Viewer Ruslan Chernichenko commented: ‘I wish this Santa would have brought snow with him.’

Anatoliy Kulumbegov said: ‘Those Santas and their sleighs need to be fined a bit more often.’

Leonid Yurievich added: ‘They could have easily gone on a ride around the private zone by the port and everything would have been fine.’

Rostov-on-Don is a port city with an estimated population of 1,125,000 people.
