Prince Harry takes commercial plane to eco-warrior talk in Amsterdam after private jet furore

PRINCE Harry took a commercial plane to give an eco-warrior talk in Amsterdam today after facing criticism over his use of private jets.

The 34-year-old smiled as he arrived in the Netherlands to launch the eco-tourism project – despite flying on four private planes in just 11 days last month.

Prince Harry, who is dad to baby Archie, flew into Amsterdam yesterday on a commercial flight to launch the initiative, which he has been working on for two years.

The royal will reportedly address how the travel industry can help save the world in his morning speech at the A'DAM Tower.

And he simply smiled as a Dutch reporter asked "how was your holiday".

The speech, promoting the eco-tourism project with Booking.com, Sky Scanner, TripAdvisor and Visa, comes after Harry took a number of trips on private jets during his summer.

A royal source previously admitted it "has not been lost on him" that the criticism he has faced over his own travel could overshadow the campaign – the first for the new Sussex Foundation.

He and wife Meghan Markle, 38, had been snapped in the South of France last month after enjoying a break at Sir Elton John's palatial £15million pad.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew on a 12-seater Cessna plane, which would have cost more than £20,000 to hire, that generates seven times the emissions per person when compared to a commercial flight.

And earlier in August, the couple flew to Ibiza to celebrate Meghan's 38th birthday in style with a six-day trip.

Prince Harry also headed to a super secret Google Camp event in Sicily on July 30, giving an impassioned barefoot speech about climate change to celebs believed to include Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Campbell, Stella McCartney and Harry Styles.

ROYAL FOOTPRINT

He also repeated his vow to only have two kids because of his eco-concerns.

According to reports, the A-listers flocked to the island on 114 private planes, with several staying on luxury super yachts for the three-day event.

It comes after Meghan Markle hired a crisis management firm that once represented Harvey Weinstein in a bid to improve her image.

She has hired Sunshine Sachs — a firm whose clients included the late pop star Michael Jackson, who has been accused of paedophilia.

In a massive break with royal tradition, the Duchess went behind the backs of Buckingham Palace advisers to hire the company, known for using the so-called “dark arts” of public relations to improve the celebs’ reputations.

These included her relationship with her estranged father Thomas Markle and stories about her negative relationship with William and Kate.

A royal insider revealed: “Hiring a Hollywood firm to represent you for PR while a member of the Royal Family is unorthodox to say the least.

“Senior palace courtiers have been left bemused over the last few months that the couple have been ignoring advice from their own highly-professional team and will instead listen to outsiders in Hollywood."
