Portsmouth crash – Audi driver smashes into two family cars in Cosham injuring boy, 13, after 'jumping red light'

The collision Shows the black vehicle racing into the front of a blue Ford Fiesta just as it was passing through a green light in Southampton Road, Cosham, Hants., at 1.45pm yesterday.

Flames burst from beneath the bonnet of the Fiesta as it was sent smashing into a silver Ford C-Max – carrying a family of five.

The Audi then spun out of control before slamming into a concrete barrier, leaving the tarmac littered with debris.

Brave members of the public rushed from their vehicles to help victims stranded on the dual carriageway, including a 13-year-old boy who was travelling in the Fiesta and was taken to hospital with a "serious injury".

A witness later described seeing the teenager being taken away by paramedics on a spinal board – police say his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 47-year-old woman, and three other people also suffered minor injuries.

The male Audi driver, 27, has been reported for summons for driving without due care and attention.

Dramatic footage – filmed by a motorist – shows several cars queuing at the lights before they change to green.

The two cars at the front begin to move forward but just as the Fiesta starts to turn the black Audi appears out of nowhere and rams into it.

The force of the impact sends the mangled Fiesta slamming into the C-Max beside it, before the Audi comes to an abrupt halt against the barrier.

A boy is seen emerging from the wreckage of the Fiesta, quickly followed by a man and a woman.

A woman is then seen getting out of the C-Max and appears to rush two young girls out of the car to safety, before helping two elderly people get out.

Witnesses then appear to remonstrate with the Audi driver – wearing a black top and black trousers – as he gets out to inspect the damage.

A police van arrives on the scene moments later and the Audi driver is immediately pointed out to officers.

Sam Parkes, 46, who witnessed the aftermath of the crash claimed the boy had suffered a shoulder injury.
